Summer Letter 2022
Principal's Corner: Back to School on the Horizon!
Hello Hawks families,
I hope this finds you doing well. Summer for our families can be a time of wonderful family fun and memory making adventure, but I've generally found that by the time August rolls around, most families are eagerly awaiting the start of the school year! It's almost time to bring our kids back into the building and launch into a year of rigorous and authentic learning!
Back to school sales are in full swing. I know some of you may be wondering what are the necessary high school supplies for your student. Here is a link to our CPHS School Supplies list that can be found on our website.
This summer letter has information to share with you that is important to know before the start of the school year.
The first day of school is Monday, August 29th. School starts at 8:00am.
We do have some changes to our bell schedule. Mondays and Tuesdays we will be on six period day schedules. Wednesdays and Thursdays will be our two hour block schedule days like we've had in the past. Fridays will continue to be our late start regular Fridays. A link to our bell schedules is below.
In our September edition of the Hawks Happening monthly newsletter, we will introduce to you some of our new staff members, share upcoming dates, send another reminder about this years Open House event (flier below), and much more.
We look forward to seeing your student back in our hallways in a few weeks! Enjoy these fleeting days of summer and we will hopefully see you soon!
If you have any questions, our office is now open. You may call us at 509-522-3312 or come into the school in person.
Go Hawks!

CPHS Annual Service Day Returns! - August 31st
Hello families!
We are so excited to announce the resurgence of our annual back to school service day. For those of you who have been part of the CPHS community for a few years, you might remember when we were able to go out, as an entire school, and give back to our community. We recognize that we are very fortunate to have such a supporting community here in College Place and welcome the opportunity to say thanks!
This year, we are able to return to our practice of service day. On August 31st, after lunch, all of our 450+ students will deploy out into our community in various locations and capacities. We have partnered with entities such as the City of College Place, College Place Police Department, The Blue Zones Project, Children’s Home Society, CPPS and more to give this opportunity to our students.
Need to knows:
Students will be off campus on Wednesday, August 31st from 12:30-2:00 pm
Students will be able to inform you of their location August 30th (be sure to ask!)
Students should plan to bring a water bottle, clothes that they can work in and work gloves if they have them
Students will be transported to locations via school bus (like a field trip)
Adults in the building will also attend and participate while supervising the students
If your student has an appointment planned or you need to pick them up from school during the Service Day field trip please inform the front office and we will ensure your student remains on campus
CPHS is thrilled to have the opportunity to do this again and cannot wait for this kick off event! Please contact the front office or Mrs. Bryant abryant@cpps.org directly if you have any questions. We extend our wishes for a fantastic conclusion to your summer break and look forward to August 29th and the start of the school year!

Safety Enhancements & Building Entrance Impacts
Parents/Guardians will no longer be able to enter the lobby area in our school until you have pressed the red call button on the device outside the door and been admitted. Showing identification to the camera may also be required for entry.
We also would encourage families to plan for a few more minutes when coming in to collect their student for appointments.
There will be directions outside of the building and the device looks like the one below. Thank you for helping keep our schools and children safe.

Sports Registration: We hope your student will come out and join our wonderful athletics programs!
If you have not yet registered for fall, winter, or spring athletics....now is the time!
We offer a tremendous amount of fun and dynamic sports experiences for our students and we hope to see them come out and make lasting memories and learn lifelong values such as hard work, team work, and perseverance. Extending learning beyond the classroom is a crucial piece of how we raise young people to be successful and contributing members of our society!
