Holy Cross Catholic School
From the Desk of Mrs. Wagner
March 25, 2022
As we begin our final quarter of the 21-22 year, plans for next year are in full swing. A big piece of the puzzle is the school budget. It is very important for us to have an accurate enrollment number in order to properly plan the staffing structure. We love our school so much and we want to continue growing and expanding our programs. It is important to us that we have all of our family members including both students and staff return. Please consider re-enrolling as soon as possible to help us in the planning process. If you are interested in financial assistance, the application deadline is April 15, 2022. There are multiple scholarships available. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.
Report cards were sent home today. Please make sure you review and reach out to the classroom teacher with any questions or concerns. We truly believe this is a partnership between home and school. Thank you for choosing Holy Cross for your child's spiritual and academic education. Thank you for sharing your children with us every day.
It is also that time of year when staff members answer God's calling to places beyond our Holy Cross walls. These announcements are always bittersweet as we all feel blessed that God had our paths cross, but also sad that our time together has ended. These are the moments we must say this isn't goodbye, but it is see you later.
It has been my honor to know and teach alongside Mrs. Susan Gittinger through the years and I am a better person for having known her. Thank you will never be enough, Mrs. G, for your 28 years of service to Holy Cross Catholic School. You have touched and changed the lives of so many. We are forever grateful that you chose Holy Cross to share your gifts and talents. We hope your next chapter is as amazing as you are. You will be missed more than you will ever know.
A Message from Mrs. G
To the Holy Cross Community,
As I put pen to page to write wistful words of farewell, I am filled with wonder at the story that is mine to tell. It is a story of growth, gratitude, and grace with the image of the Divine reflected in each face. It is a story of freedom born of faith and trust born of the truth. It is a story of a community that welcomed me, allowed me to be crazy ‘Mrs. G.’, and became my family. For 28 years I stepped through the door knowing what was in store: a day filled with profound purpose and the “Jesus Joy” such purpose produces. I leave Holy Cross and step into a future the Spirit has yet to reveal forever indebted to colleagues who walked with and supported me, parents who shared their children with me, and the students of Holy Cross who filled my days with hope. They walk in the light. Because of them, I step forth in confidence. They are the future, and it is indeed bright.
With sincerity, humility, gratitude, and peace,
Mrs. G.
35th Anniversary Celebration
Can you believe our wonderful school has been around for 35 years! Those 35 years have left us with a wonderful legacy of tradition and memories. We hope you join us in celebrating everyone that helped build our school into what it is today. Please come meet some of the founders, former pastors and principals, teachers, and alumni. Join us on Sunday, May 1 after the 10:30 am Mass in the school gym. We will be honoring staff members that have dedicated many years of service to our school community. Please join us for this special occasion.

Word of mouth is the best way to market our school. When parents search online for a school, they read the reviews that are associated with that school. Help us tell the world about our amazing school community! If you have been happy or your child loves coming to school, please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to write a review on any or all of the following sites. After you have finished, if you copy and paste the review and send it to either Stefanie Bridges, sbridges@holycrosscatholicschool.com, or Melissa Wagner, mwagner@holycrosscatholicschool.com, this can be used as one of your Parish Commitments that are due on March 28th.

Early Education
Math+ Opportunity at Rockhurst
The Math+ program includes 6 courses. Each Math+ course focuses on 1 major idea based on key concepts included in Stanford University’s introductory math sequence.
This Spring, the Math+ program will be focused on Logic and Proofs. In Mathematics, logic and proofs represent the most rigorous way to ‘solve’ a problem and form the backbone of advanced math. These critical skills have become increasingly tested in standardized exams with ~20% of SAT Math questions testing basic logic. A letter about the course is attached.
The six-session course will be taught at Rockhurst High School on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm starting on Thursday, March 31st and ending on May 5th. The course costs $250.
We think that many of the students at your school would enjoy and benefit from Math+ so we would appreciate your help letting families know about this program. If you could provide the attached information to families who may be interested, we would very much appreciate it. Families can sign-up at www.RedwoodPrep.com.
If you have any questions, please reach out. We look forward to working with your students!
All the best,
Greg Owsley
