Three Lakes Middle School
Dress Code Additions
Hey Gators Families!
Have you heard the buzz? Every middle schooler is talking about it. We have added some items to our dress code.
Dress Code Additions:
- Girls may wear solid leggings in black and navy, as well as sweatpants (no pajama pants) in the same approved colors for shorts and jeans: white, black, khaki, tan, blue and gray.
- Boys may wear solid athletics short and sweatpants in the same approved colors for shorts and jeans: white, black, khaki, tan, blue and gray.
- Girls may also wear shorts, but shorts must be an appropriate length at discretion by administrators. We did not explicitly say fingertips because I personally know a principal whose fingertips go down to her knees and did as a kid as well ;).
- Crocs are allowed as long as they stay on the student's feet. Slides are still not allowed.
- Other colors and tops besides approved colors and spirit wear are still only reserved for Free Dress Fridays. Students who habitually are out of dress code may lose Free Dress Friday privileges.
- All additions are intended to be positive and give student more choices and a level of comfort that they frequently choose to wear on Free Dress Fridays.
Thank you for your support! I think we have lots of happy middle schoolers this week!

Opt Out Only - Student Panorama Survey
In order to learn more about student experiences Three Lakes Middle School, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey that s/he will be completing at school. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete.
We are asking that all of our students in grades 3-12 participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how to improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor to support us in administering these surveys.
The survey content will ask students to provide feedback on their teacher’s classroom as it relates to classroom engagement, rigorous expectations, teacher-student relationships and pedagogical effectiveness. If you do not want your student to participate, there is an OPT OUT form linked on the button below:
Leader in Me Family Survey
As a Leader in Me campus, students, staff and families are asked to participate in a survey to give us meaningful feedback once a year. If you are able, we'd love you to use the link below to participate:
6th and 7th Grade Families
As part of our science and health curriculum, the ESTEEM curriculum will teach 6th and 7th grade students about the human reproductive system, abstinence, and human sexuality. Parents can preview the materials for these units at https://esteemjourney.com. A print copy of the curriculum is available at your child’s campus. Parents/Guardians may contact their school to schedule an appointment for viewing.
Parents must go to the Parent Self-Serve Portal at
https://frontline.tylerisd.org/selfserve/EntryPointHomeAction.do?parent=true
and complete the Health Opt-In Form.
Human sexuality education begins at home. You are your child’s primary educator and the most important influence on your child's health decisions. The ESTEEM lessons are designed to reinforce what you teach at home.
If you have questions about the ESTEEM curriculum, please email Hayley Skinner, Coordinator of Health and Physical Education at Hayley.Skinner@TylerISD.org.
