Hall-Dale Elementary School Newsletter, Oct 26, '20
Principal's Pen
I hope this newsletter finds you well. Now that the first couple of months are behind us, I'd like to share what school is like during a pandemic.
Students and staff are settled in to the new school routines and are implementing the many safety measures required for us to be open to in-person instruction. Hands are being washed and sanitized many times throughout the day, children eat, play and learn physically distanced, everyone wears masks and other PPE. There are several 'fresh air breaks' taken by all and outdoor education happens daily!
I would like to also share that our teachers, ed techs, nurse, bus drivers, secretaries, nutrition staff and custodial staff are working harder than ever and giving all they can for your children. I'm very proud of the work we are doing and want to assure you that we are dedicated to making this unusual school year a positive educational experience for students and families.
Thank you for screening your child(ren) with the RSU#2 Daily Health Screening Tool prior to sending them to school every morning. This has helped keep sickness out of our school. Reminder, if your child has any of the symptoms on the checklist, please follow the guidance on the screener. Any child that comes to school with the symptoms on the checklist will be sent home immediately. This practice is one of the mandated safety expectations all schools in Maine have to implement in order to open to in-person instruction. Here is the link to the screener: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/970519/DOE_Health_Pre-Screening_Tool_Oct_20.pdf
While it hasn't been an easy start to the school year, we have had many successes and we are looking forward to continued learning and health this school year!
Thank you for sharing your children with us. I hope you enjoy the photos!
Be well,
Kristie
