Our 5K journey is finally reaching its peak. We are so amazingly, unbelievably, awe-inspiringly CLOSE to achieving our goal of $50,000-- one of the biggest single fundraising goals set by the PTC in recent memory.

Through matching funds, corporate sponsorships, and your own generosity, the summit is now within reach. Just like every student, EVERY.DOLLAR.COUNTS.

When we do this together, everybody wins.

Team Amazon (6th) continues to be in the lead overall, but Lotus (7th) is coming on strong through envelope donations. Endeavor continues to be in the lead for the 8th grade.

Each year, CPMS is assigned one Wednesday to manage and run the Beaverton Clothes Closet. This is a unique and gratifying experience to give back and serve our community. This fall, Cedar Park will be operating the Clothes Closet on Wed., 10/25. We need 4-5 people per shift to properly staff the store. Shift times are as follows:

• 9:15-11:45 am
• 11:30-1:45 pm
• 1:30-4:15 pm

The Beaverton Clothes Closet is a volunteer service organization that provides new and gently used clothing to BSD students (K-12). Beaverton School District parent groups and community volunteers staff the Clothes Closet every Wednesday throughout the year. Students can find necessities like jeans, shoes, t-shirts, sweatshirts, warm coats, new socks and underwear. More info regarding this valuable BSD program can be found here.

When volunteering, community members assist families with their shopping needs and restock the store. If ample support is available, some volunteers may also help in the donation sorting room.

The Clothes Closet is located at the Beaverton School District Administration Center, 16550 SW Merlo Road, Beaverton, OR 97006.

The annual CPMS Book Fair is scheduled for this October during the week of conferences. Our Library Media Assistant, Debbie Hernandez, is seeking out volunteers to help set-up and man the fair. The tentative schedule includes:

• Monday, 10/23– Set-up from 2-4pm
• Tuesday, 10/24– Preview for the kids. Student supervision needed 10am-4pm
• Wednesday, 10/25- Book Fair officially opens 2:30-8pm
• Thursday, 10/26- Fair open 8am to 8pm
• Friday, 10/27- Schedule TBD
• Monday, 10/30- Pack up 9-11am

Two hour shifts are available on myvolunteerpage. An mVP profile is required to volunteer during school hours.

Please welcome Karen DiPietro as our new PTC Vice President and Mark Chen will be a Co-Treasurer with Tonya Stevens. Tonya will phase out through the year, and Mark will take over the full duties in the new year. To view a copy of the most recent PTC Meeting minutes please go to our website.

We made some updates to our PTC Meeting dates. In order to avoid conflicting meetings with both Beaverton and Sunset High School's our meetings will be held on the 3rd Monday of the month. Our next meeting will be held on Monday, November 20th.

The PTC is looking for some volunteers, maybe an Eagle Scout Troop, to help us replace our school sign (see below). This poor thing has seen better days, and we were recently told that the wood-shop class in 1976 built the sign currently out front. The PTC would be happy to provide for the materials to replace this sign, if we can just find some volunteer labor to get started on this project.

The mission of the Cedar Park Middle School Parent Teacher Club is to provide curriculum enrichment on an equal basis to all students. The PTC will facilitate a connection between parents, staff and students to elevate communication and to provide a healthy and constructive learning environment.
