¢have learned in order to create a professional magazine I must use research my audience thoroughly to find out what appeals to them and how to design a magazine that will fit there values

¢I have also learned to make a magazine attractive every thing must be there for a purpose. Be it borders and dividers to make my magazine easier for my audience to navigate or photography following the connotations of a particular genre.

¢Editing skills on Photoshop such as cropping, filters and removing backgrounds

¢Taking photography and learning techniques such as motion blur and action shots.

¢How to construct a professional music magazine using connotations such as barcodes, price, mastheads, and more.

¢Research skills such as browsing the internet to find information about my target audience and the fashion and values they share

¢How to design an magazine using appropriate graphology, typography and layouts

My college magazine is vastly inferior to my music magazine. The colour scheme is unappealing and does not match the colour scheme of Prior Pursglove regardless. The photography I have taken is either badly edited with Photoshop filters for no reason or badly produced with poor lighting. Borders are too thick and text is too large.

In comparison, my music magazine looks vastly superior with an appealing colour scheme and images that fit the connotations of the indie/rock genre. My magazine in my opinion looked extremely professional. No page had an overabundance of dead space and all of them were packed with content. The design of my magazine remained consistent and striking using. a colour scheme of orange and blue really helped with this, as they worked extremely well together and caused the pages to “pop out”.

The images I took were also much better produced as they were suitable for the magazine and followed the mise-en-scene of the indie, rock and metal genres, appealing to my audience – in comparison with my college photo-shoot which was a generic photo of me.

Overall, I would say my music magazine was a vast improvement over my college magazine.
