This week we introduced Growth Mindset lesson to our students. We explained the wheel of control- what we can or can't control.

In order to extend the learning, make sure you ask students when they are having difficulties in any areas, these questions. Is this in your circle of control or not? What can you do to solve it?. We need to empower our students to be proactive in solving problems and coming with solutions. This view creates a love of learning and resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.

Please make sure you are delivering these lessons every week. As we start on a new school year and a new and necessary focus on racial justice, to address the trauma of racism. RISD is putting a lot of their efforts in this initiative that I am sure will benefit our students.

Follow the lesson plan and choose the activities you feel work best for your audience, but PLEASE DO NOT ADD anything new to it. These lessons have been created by experts in the field and have been approved to be delivered to students.

In support of the new racial literacy curriculum, RISD Racial & Equity Department will offer weekly Zoom support sessions for teachers and staff on Wednesdays this fall. They'll be offered twice to accommodate both elementary and secondary staff. You will get PD hours for "Choice" if you attend. Please, see below the information needed.
