Kindergarten: Hi Kindergarten Family, next week we will be discussing Apples, letter C, numbers 0-5, color-purple, shapes-hexagon. Please continue to go over letters and sight words. Thank you for all you do.

First Grade: Next week, we will be focusing on retelling fiction stories. We’ll be looking at the commutative and associative properties of addition. Please continue practicing sight words as our first sight word check will be next week. It’s important your child is reading their take-home books nightly. The BookIt program begins in October. Your child can earn a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut if they meet the reading goal set by their teacher.

Second Grade: Greetings from the Second Grade Team! Next week we will learn about how states of matter change when heated and cooled; continue learning about long vowel sounds in words (magic e), and review closed and open syllables; continue describing how characters respond to major events in a story and how their feelings change from the beginning to the end of the story; continue working on addition and subtraction within 20 using mental strategies. Parents, we ask that you please work with students on spelling words each night so they will be successful on the spelling test.

Art: Our awesome little artists have continued their lesson on the Color Wheel. This week we have talked about Warm and Cool colors. The project this week for 1st and 2nd graders is the Sun and Moon using warm and cool colors. Kindergarteners are making circle flowers that will also use warm and cool colors. They will finish the projects next week!

Music: Students in Mrs. Warren, Ms. Baker, Ms. Bonds’ classes did a fantastic job at the September PTA program. DeAnna (from Mrs. Reason’s class) joined them as the lead character Little Red Hen. DeAnna and others are surely enthusiastic “actors” already! Tiger Troupe auditions finished with 45 students this year. Practices begin on Tuesday, October 4th.

1. Parents please be sure to get your students to school on time. Instruction begins promptly at 8:05. Those students who arrive to school late miss valuable instructional time. Therefore it is important that they arrive on time so that they can receive all of their instruction time to insure their academic success.

2. If a bus change needs to be made parents will need to send a written note to your child's teacher stating what the change is.

3. If your child needs to be changed from a Car rider to a bus rider parents will need to send a written note to your child's teacher with the correct morning and afternoon pickup and drop off addresses.

4. All Transportation changes need to be made by 12:00pm.

5. Student Check-out time ends at 2:15pm. After 2:15 students will be released during dismissal.
