Student Council News
Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
We are looking for a parent who is willing to dedicate some of their time this year! As part of the TAG appeal process throughout the school year, we have a committee that reviews student information and data in order to make decisions on appeals. The TAG Advisory Committee currently includes a Board of Education representative, a school psychologist, two teachers, and two parents. We are looking for a new parent to join our team! Specifically, the committee is looking for:
A parent of a current TAG student
Please, email your interest and information to Leslie Weber at weber@ogschool.org. Information should include your name, grade of student(s), and any unique background, experience, or perspective you would bring to the committee. All applicants will be reviewed prior to the next Advisory Committee meeting in October. Please send an email no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, September 10th.
iReady Testing: Students in grades K-8 will continue to take the iReady assessment this week; students completed the reading diagnostic assessment last week and will be taking the math diagnostic throughout this week. Parents will receive a family report with student results the week of September 20th.

The office staff is unable to deliver items throughout the school day.
Student Dismissal Changes
We know that a student’s after school dismissal plans may change from time to time. In order to provide the office with enough time to alert staff and students to any changes, we ask that parents and guardians contact the office before NOON and pick-ups must take place prior to 2:45pm. The office’s busiest hours are the hours before arrival and dismissal. To minimize disruption, it is most helpful to have received notice of student changes as early in the day as possible.
Also, we recognize that our current bus situation is causing major inconveniences and families are deciding to use the Driveline, instead of the bus. For those of you who are choosing to use the Driveline, rather than the bus (at least until our bus situation improves), please contact our main office at ogsofficestaff@ogschool.org, to make the appropriate changes.
ATTN: 8th Graders and Families
We received the timeline from LHS regarding the upcoming informational meetings and events that will help prepare your 8th grader and family for the transition to high school. Please use the following links to learn more.
Save the Date: D128 has decided to again host the PSAT 8/9 for 8th graders. The test will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at LHS.
PTO News
Eagle Express Treat Train
The PTO has a one-track mind when it comes to showing appreciation for OGS teachers & staff! Last week, the very first Eagle Express Treat Train chugged through the halls delivering treats and sincere thanks. We are grateful for the tram-mendous support of parents who donated snacks and drinks for the first treat train and look forward to making tracks through OGS every month. If you’d like to help, please share your information here.
Shop the Spirit Wear Store
Don’t forget to order your OGS Spirit Wear by September 14th! Spirit wear Fridays will be starting soon and we’ll encourage the community to wear OGS gear and show their #oakgrovepride. Spirit wear orders help support the PTO!
Register With Amazon Smile
Do you place Amazon orders as often as we do? Did you know you can support the PTO when you shop on Amazon? Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to OGS PTO if you visit Smile.Amazon.com and select OAK GROVE SCHOOL DISTRICT PTO, INC as your charity of choice.
Box Tops for Education
Help the PTO earn funds from the Box Tops for Education (BTFE) program with your grocery store receipts. No more clipping box tops from food packages - BTFE has gone digital! Sadly schools across the country are receiving less funding from this program because it’s hard to get used to a new way of doing things - don’t let Oak Grove be one of those!
Step 1: Create an Account and choose Oak Grove School
Step 2: Buy Your Favorite Products
Step 3: Download the App to scan your paper receipt or e-mail a copy of your digital receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com.
SEL Update
We have really enjoyed our 2nd week in SEL! Have fun with your children by asking them to teach you a little bit about what they've learned. Mindfulness, Zones of Regulation (identifying our feelings), listening with attention, building relationships, following directions and more. The favorite game this week in 1st and 2nd grade was my turn, your turn. Ask your child to teach you!
Mrs. Kiefer will be sending out more detailed information in SEESAW or check out our SEL website for more details!
