Vandegrift High School AVID
Spring 2023
Vandegrift High School is very proud of the AVID Program which has supported over one hundred freshmen each year with many remaining in the AVID elective through senior year. This program works with each student to promote high school success and preparation for college. As eighth graders transition into high school, the AVID elective is a wonderful option for those students desiring to develop their academic toolbelts in preparation for challenging high school coursework.
AVID stands for Advancement via Individual Determination, which is a college readiness elective course focusing on critical thinking, collaborative learning via twice-weekly tutorials, academic enrichment, organizational and study skills, and motivational activities. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. For additional information, explore the following resources:

If interested in applying for the AVID elective, join the AVID Online Application Google Classroom which provides step-by-step directions. Students must access the Google classroom using their Leander ISD gmail accounts. Join Code: pm4gxxt (Current 8th grade AVID students do not need to reapply.)
Although there are many wonderful and impactful programs available at VHS, we hope that AVID can be the right "fit" as students transition into high school.
Questions may be directed to Mr. Adrian, freshman AVID teacher and VHS AVID coordinator, at Joe.Adrian@leanderisd.org.
Submit completed applications by Friday, April 28th at 4:00 PM.
