Uthoff Valley Elementary

Thank you to everyone that has stepped up this week to help out during the unexpected staff shortages and changes. While it has not been easy, we have been able to maintain the necessary levels of supervision and support throughout the day. Tomorrow is another one of those day with Sarah T being sick, Cathie M. headed to Italy, Michelle Brinkman recieving an award from SLU and all three RI teachers at PD. Thank you to Amy Hurt, Stephanie Ottinger and Heather Hammerschmidt for taking a shift during field day. We would not have been able to pull it off without you. I appreciate how we all pull together for the sake of our kiddos. You ROCK!

• Graduate Parade - On Friday, May 18th at 1:45pm we will recognize and and celebrate UV alumni that will be graduating from RSHS this year. We will line the hallways outside of your classroom to cheer on and high five the grads as they parade from the end of the 100 hallway to the end of the 200 hallway. The graduates loved it last year. Feel free to make signs.

• Early Release - Our next early release day is scheduled for Thursday, May 24th. Students will participate in buddy specials, class parties, and buddy lunch.

Lunch on May 24th

Last year we decided to change to lunch on the last day, instead of breakfast on check-out day. This is one last time for us to enjoy lunch together and celebrate another great year. Please stop by the office and add your McAllister's order to the form on the counter (Social Committee and I are paying ;-) )

Innovation Room Supplies

• We are asking you to check your cabinets, bins, and drawers for these unused items: rubber bands, beads, twist ties, googly eyes, cups, balloons, pom-poms, paper clips, pipe cleaners, craft paper, craft sticks, dowel rods, cotton balls, straws, string, brass fasteners, clay, and bottle caps. To help with the organization of these supplies we will be collecting them in marked bins in the office from May 1-18. Please only donate items that are new and that are included on the list above. We know that you’re looking to dump that old, dog-eared mimeograph paper (we’re teachers, too) but we ask that you stick only with the items listed. If your items are still in the original packaging, just leave the materials in them.
  

Words Their Way books - WTW books:

• Do NOT send any WTW books home. Students will likely be taught the unused sorts next year.

• If the book is partially used and/or is in bad shape, recycle!

• If the book is barely used and is in good shape, save it in case it is needed next year.

• We have TONS of Emergent and Derivational Relations, so you do not need to save any of these partially used books.

• We have plenty of new books for next year for all students.

• Please just put any books your grade level is KEEPING in a box and pass is on to the SAC member at the next grade level. They will then have them to distribute next year.

• Check-Out on May 25th - A sign up sheet will be placed on the counter in the office by 8:00am on the morning of the 25th. We will plan to check-out in the order you sign-up. Check out will begin around 10:00.
