Canby High School Family Newsletter
For the Week of June 2nd through 8th, 2022
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
It’s a great week at Canby High School! Our seniors graduate on Friday and students are getting ready for finals. The end is near!
If you haven’t heard, our baseball team is on fire! Since our last newsletter, the team defeated #6 Mountainside HS on Friday in the second round of playoffs.. Last night, in the semi-final round, our Cougars triumphed over #7 Clackamas in an exciting back and forth game 14-9. Next is the state championship against West Linn on Saturday at 5pm, at Volcanoes’ Stadium in Salem. Come and root on our team to a championship!
Congratulations to our Thespian Troupe and their production of Sweeney Todd. A few weeks ago, they had to cancel the final performances due to cast illness. The troupe rallied and produced two more shows, on Friday and Saturday, to large crowds. Thank you to all who attended and supported this program.
We have a couple of public events coming up and the community is invited. First, on Thursday at 11:30am, we will be dedicating our Senior Park, the newly landscaped green space at the end of 100 hall. Also, next Wednesday, June 8th, we will officially break ground at 2:45pm on our new science wing addition to CHS. The event will happen by the old concession stand, north of the track.
We look forward to a positive finish to a very unusual year. Students, make sure you have your work in and study for finals! Let’s finish strong!
Have a good week. And Go Cougars!

Graduation All-Night Party (GAP)
Please help us celebrate the Canby High School Class of 2022 by signing up to volunteer at the Senior "GAP" All NIght Party on Friday, June 3rd. We need as many volunteers as possible to make this an amazing event for our graduates. Senior parents are more than welcome to sign up to help, but we also need parents who do not have seniors. Think of volunteering at this event as paying it forward. Volunteering gives the senior parents a chance to attend graduation, and visit with family and friends who might be visiting for graduation. Then when it's your students turn to graduate, other parents will do the same for you.
When signing up, please make sure that you add an email and a phone number. I will be sending out reminders as we get closer to the event. The location will not be disclosed until a couple of days before the event, because we want to surprise the student, but know that it is within a half an hour drive.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email Amber Bedortha at canbyamber@yahoo.com.

Attendance and Sick Students
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment, inform the attendance office as soon as possible. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
