Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! School will begin for students in grades 1-5 on Tuesday, August 29, at 8:50AM. Weather permitting, all students will meet their teachers outside by the new playground area. Many staff members will be available to direct students to their proper teacher and classmates. The first official day for school for our kindergarteners is Wednesday, August 30, at 8:50AM. Don't forget our Meet and Greet on Monday, August 28, from 4-6PM where students have the chance to see their classroom and meet their teachers. Thank you and we cannot wait to welcome you back with a smile to a new school year at GWS!

Governor Winslow School will be a LATE start school this year.

The Portal for elementary families is now open!

New families should have received their login information via email from our Aspen team. Please check your email for your credentials. All families can contact aspen@mpsd.org if you have any questions accessing the parent portal.

**Extremely Important: Please complete the Student Workflow and Parent Workflow before the start of the school year as this is how we reach you in an emergency.**

Please click here to complete a short form to document your child's permanent daily dismissal plans. It is important to complete the form by ASAP.

All families must complete this form even if you have registered for a bus via the Transportation Department.

GWS will continue to use the PickUp Patrol (PUP) App to help us better manage our dismissal process. PUP allows parents to electronically make daily dismissal changes from a computer or smart phone. Families that have not already registered will receive an email with login information.

This year, GWS is providing general supplies/materials for every student.

Lunch will be served at all elementary schools this year free of charge.

Kindergarten Playdate

The GWS PTO would like to invite you and your kindergartner to a playdate on Tuesday, August 22 on the new GWS playground. The playgroup has been divided into three sessions. An email was sent with your child's scheduled time. If you did not receive an email please call the school.

Kindergarten Orientation

Kindergarten orientation is Tuesday, August 29 by appointment. You should have received an email with your child's scheduled time. Please call the school if you did not receive an email.

Every three years our parent/guardian CORI forms need to be updated in order to volunteer at school events. This year marks the beginning of a three year term, so every parent/guardian that would like to volunteer needs to complete a new form this year.

Please click here for the form and submit by bringing this to the front office with your license. You do have the option to have the form notarized and sent in with a copy of your license if you cannot come to the school.

Young Writers Program is a 10 week program for aspiring writers in grades 4-6. Children will work with published author Erin Petti to learn about and create their own books. Registration is mandatory and fills up fast! Registration opens September 6th at 9 AM. Registrations are through the Ventress Memorial Library's website calendar ONLY. We are unable to accept phone calls or emails for registration.

• This is a 10 week commitment including 1 off week at the end and 1 final family and friends showcase in November
• Young Writers Program runs on Wednesdays from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm, beginning on September 13th
• There is no Young Writers Program on November 8th
• There is a friends and family showcase on November 15th
• If your child was in the spring 2023 program, they are not eligible for this session
• One caregiver per child is required to participate in a fifteen minute information session at the start of the first week
