Parent Expectations
Important Information
Prior to the first eLearning day, students will experience eLearning lesson(s) delivered via Canvas, our digital learning management system. For students in grades K-4, the username and password for Canvas will be shared prior to the first eLearning day. Students in grades 5-12 will use the unique username and password that they previously created for their Canvas account.
On scheduled eLearning days, classwork for students in Grades K-12 will be posted online in Canvas by 3:00 p.m. the afternoon before an eLearning Day. Teachers will be available via email during designated hours to respond to questions from students and parents. Students will have three (3) school days at Western Boone and elementary students will need to complete assignments by Friday at 8:15 a.m. Student assignments will be graded similarly to in-class work.
Computers
For scheduled eLearning days, elementary students in grades K-6 will bring home their laptops to complete their eLearning assignments. The laptops will need to return with the student the following day.
Unscheduled eLearning Days will be utilized in the event of unexpected school closures, such as inclement weather. Parents will be notified through School Messenger of unscheduled eLearning days by 6:00 AM. On unscheduled eLearning days, assignments will be posted in Canvas by 9:00 AM. If school is closed after a two-hour delay was originally scheduled, assignments will be posted by 10:00 AM. Teachers will be available from 9:00-3:00 via email to respond to questions from parents and students. Students will have five (5) school days to complete eLearning assignments. Student assignments will be graded similarly to in-class work.
