October 2021
October is here and fall is in the air! As we begin the 7th week of the school year, our continued focus remains on meeting the individual needs of our students. Our focus for October will continue to be to deliver high quality academic instruction to our students while implementing small instructional groups that will support their the individual needs. These targeted small groups will be provided in reading and in math and will differentiate learning for students.
Your child will continue to use CANVAS as their Learning Management System in the classroom. CANVAS is a great way to keep students, teachers, and families connected in terms of classroom expectations and assignments. Please ask your child about CANVAS and see if they can show you how to log into their classroom page. Next, see if they can teach you how to get to their ENCORE Canvas Page. Finally -- Sign up to be a Parent Observer on their page. See the links below for directions. Visiting your child's CANVAS page will help you to stay informed with what your child is learning each week in the classroom.

One School, One Book
Continued into the month of October, Weddington Hills will support school wide literacy through our One School, One Book program. Wildcats will listen to the read aloud of Donavan's Word Jar by Monalisa Degross and participate in activities that complement the text. The main character, Donavan, has an interesting hobby. He collects all sort of words. After listening to the book, Wildcats will begin collecting their own words with class and individual Word Walls. We are looking forward to this exciting literary event!
