One more week until FALL BREAK, October 2-6, 2023. Please make sure you are checking PowerSchool to view your child's grades and help them stay on top of her/his assignments. Next week is the last week of the nine weeks.

Shout-Outs
Shout-out to our Freshmen Students of the Week! Bella Smith comes to us from Williams Middle School. Here at Lee, she is a member of the Creative Writing Magnet and the Creation & Music Club. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, writing stories/ songs and likes to sing. She has a twin brother who goes to New Century and an older brother who goes to UAH. After graduating, she wants to go to college to become a published author or go into sales for a big corporation. Her favorite teacher here at Lee is Ms. Smith because she makes sure they learn things and she is fun to work with. Tylan Fugate comes to us from Buckhorn Middle School. Here at Lee, he plays football and wants to play basketball. In his free time, he enjoys playing videogames and working out. After graduating, he wants to go to college and play football and aspires to be a part of the NFL one day. His favorite teacher here at Lee is Coach McGuire because he makes them disciplined. Shout-out to both of them for living out our #FamiLEE values so well!
We enjoyed celebrating our Volleyball Seniors at Thursday's Senior Night! Congratulations to Zakiya, Khaleyah, Aleah, and Emma!!!
Shout-out to the Girls Flag Football team for defeating Westminster 19-7 on Thursday!
Shout-out to the Lee High School Band! They played across the field from the Alabama A&M University Marching Maroon & White band at Thursday’s AAMU game vs. the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff!!! We are so excited out students got the opportunity to play at a real college game!!!
Congrats to our very own Librarian Nicole Fields for receiving a 2023 Herman Moore LAMP award! Awarded annually by the Alabama Library Expo, recipients are Librarians or Library Specialists who have rendered outstanding and exceptional service to their patrons, schools, and communities over an extended period of time. The famiLee is grateful daily for Mrs. Fields’ years of service and dedication to our students. Give her a shoutout!

Updates
This has been a busy week in the magnet department! Our Film and Video students have been out around the building filming for their new projects. Our Visual Arts students have been working on their AP portfolio pieces. Our Theatre and Tech students are moving full steam ahead with their Trumbauer competition pieces. We are so looking forward to seeing the product of our dancers choreographing their pieces for the fall recital.
