A Message from Your Administrators
Welcome back Bulldogs! The School year has commenced and is in full swing! We are very excited to have everyone back with us! The past couple of weeks have been busy! With the New Student Orientation, 100th graduation Celebration this past weekend, fall sports starting, launching our Choose Love Curriculum, and Open House the halls are buzzing with excitement. Please enjoy more information, updates and photos regarding the previously mentioned events.
We also would like to welcome our new Lyman Staff! We are excited to have the newest members of the Bulldog community on board! Please see more information about new staff members below.
Finally we would like to share our district goals with you. This year at Lyman we will be focusing on the following four goals:
Goal 1- The school community takes collective responsibility for the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional well-being of every student and can demonstrate how each child is known, valued and connected.
Goal 2- Instructional practices are designed to meet the learning needs of each student.
Goal 3- Educators engage in ongoing reflection, formal and informal collaboration, and professional development to improve student learning and well-being.
Goal 4- Educators develop proactive student, family and community partnerships that support learning.
We are hoping for another awesome school year!

This week we started Choose Love. This is our new Social Emotional Curriculum and is being done in grades 5-12. Choose Love was designed by Scarlet Lewis, whose son, Jesse Lewis was a victim in the Sandy Hook Tragedy.
Please use the Link to learn more about the program and its purpose: https://chooselovemovement.org/
Our first unit is Courage.
Courage is the willingness and ability to work through obstacles despite embarrassment,
fear, reluctance, or uncertainty. Courage involves making positive choices, even though
they may be difficult. It takes courage to express our feelings, make ethical choices, tell
the truth, admit mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and to be kind. This is especially true when
others are not leading by example. Courage requires self-awareness and self-regulation
(Greenberg, 2016). Students will practice identifying feelings in themselves and others.
Jesse saved the lives of nine of his classmates before losing his own. His actions and
message of “nurturing, healing, love” inspired the “courage” section of this curriculum.
Students are invited to consider how they can choose small acts of courage every day.
Over the course of the lessons, students reflect on how courage helps them build
self-confidence and strong senses of identity.
For the next six or seven Monday’s Students will be focused on Courage.
Welcome New Staff!
