From the Principal's Desk
It has been a busy few weeks at Salt Creek Primary. Students have been learning about holidays around the world and enjoyed our all school field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry this past week. Check out a few photos below!
On Friday, I had a student Assistant Principal for the day! Mr. C helped with morning announcements, completed a building safety inspection, visited classrooms and helped me with the newsletter. His message to you all is below.
Just a few reminders:
We have had an increase in the amount of students taking a breakfast each day. This isn't a problem, but I do want to remind parents that if you are not on the free/reduced lunch program, breakfast costs $1.65 a day. I am not sure parents of all our breakfast students are aware they are choosing to get a breakfast. So please double check your balance on skyward and remind your student that if they eat at home they don't need a school breakfast. I would hate to have families unknowingly charged!
Please read our nurse updates below as well. There has been a spike in pink eye cases again. We are doing frequent hand washing at school, but be aware of the signs.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Scanlan
From Assistant Principal Mr. C:
Have a good day! Our school is so fun. Have a good weekend and happy holidays. Don't forget to come to school next week.
-Assistant Principal Mr. C
Late Arrivals
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!
Baby it's cold outside!
Make sure students dress for the weather!
It is that time of year when temperatures drop, snow falls, or it's warm and sunny! (It is the midwest after all!)
Please remember to dress for the weather as we enter these colder months. For students to play in the snow at school they need: Coat, Hat/hood, gloves, snow pants, and boots. Otherwise they will play on the blacktop for recess.
We go outside as long as we are within the safe zones of the Child Care Weather Watch Chart included below. Please make sure your students have what they need to be comfortable during outdoor recess!
Helping SC Families
Dear Salt Creek 48 families, the holiday season is upon us and what better way to give back than by supporting our families in need. Please consider signing up to buy a student a holiday gift. The sign up will remain open until Sunday December 17th. Please wrap any gifts purchased and label which student you purchased a gift for (Ex: Student 1, Student 2, Student 3 etc.) This information can be found on the sign up genius. All donated gifts will need to be dropped off at either Swartz or Albright by Monday December 18th in order to ensure they are delivered to families in time. If you have any questions, please reach out to Crystal Phan at cphan@saltcreek48.org or Grayson Breen at GBreen@saltcreek48.org.
Click on the button below to help spread some joy and cheer! Thank you!

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
We will have a book donation stand in our Salt Creek Vestibule! Please bring any books you'd like to donate and your student can take a "new-to-you" book as well!
Payments & Fees
TECHNOLOGY FEE
You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.
Thank you in advance.
A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward
NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.

Absent Students
Communication For When Your Child Is Absent
Please make sure to notify Angie Holden at Salt Creek Primary if your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early. It is helpful to contact your child's teacher in these matters as well, but it is very important to contact the office! If you have any doctor's notes, please send those to our health office staff.

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.
