Principal Report:
Our 5th grade Sail Students put together a slideshow highlighting the changes our school building has seen over 150 years of its existence! They used placquards around the school and interviewed staff to collect data for their project. After their initial inquiry, they compiled their learning into a presentation that was shared with the entire school. This month, students will learn about the history of our building because of the hard work of our Sail students. They also will learn about gratitude and why it's an important part of our Waukazoo Roots.
We also hosted our annual Veteran's Day Assembly this year on Thursday. We welcomed our Veteran guests with their student hosts and honored their service to our country. We are grateful for a school who supports this special time to thank our guests for all they sacrifice for our community. Our Veterans Day Assembly is a long-standing Waukazoo tradition that brings us together and we are grateful for this time.
Looking ahead, we have Thanksgiving break from November 22-26 and Winter break from December 23-January 7. As we head into winter, please send your student dressed appropriately for the weather. If you have lost items this school year, you are welcome to see if we have them in our Lost and Found.
Wishing you all a great weekend!
Best,
Audra

As part of growing our program, we host a Try Hockey for Free event multiple times a year. Our big fall event is just a few weeks away. Hopefully many of these players will be future West Ottawa Hockey players!
Our events are free and we provide all the equipment and instruction. We are also a non-profit organization dedicated to making hockey more accessible to those who would like to participate.
We would like to be able to connect with elementary students in the area to show them the fun in hockey. This is where we are hoping to partner with the local schools in a few different ways.
- Is there a current process for us to be able to share this information with students? Such as a weekly newsletter?
- Are we able to drop off flyers to post on any billboards?
- Is it possible to showcase hockey during any of the elementary PE classes? We have volunteers that would be happy to join a class.
- Are there any other ways you would recommend to connect with students?
Here is the information for the upcoming event. Flyer attach
