Upcoming Testing
We use a variety of assessment methods throughout the year to monitor students' growth. As we near the end of the year, our students will be completing their End-Of-Year (EOY) assessments in MAP (K-5th), TX-KEA (K), and TPRI (1st-2nd). All reports will be distributed to parents once available and will be reviewed by our TeSA teachers next year to help plan for any learning gaps for all of our returning students.
Additionally, our 3rd-5th grade students will be participating in STAAR. You can see the schedule below. We are required to have a closed-campus on STAAR dates, which means families will not be allowed to volunteer or eat lunch with their students on testing days. STAAR results will not be available until after the school year concludes, and more information on how to obtain the scores will be sent closer to that time.
The STAAR Redesign Resources for Parents webpage includes curated information about STAAR developed especially for parents. This new webpage hosts flyers, short videos, and FAQs. We highly recommend all 3rd-5th grade families at least read the What Families Should Know About STAAR one-page document for a better understanding of the test and the testing process.
If you have any testing questions, please contact our District Testing Coordinator, Julie Murray, at julie.murray@mytesa.org.

Gifted & Talented Nominations
The parent nomination period for our Gifted Academic Program (GAP) for Gifted and Talented (GT) students at TeSA begins on Tuesday, April 11th and ends on Friday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in nominating your Kinder-4th grade student for this program for the 2023-2024 school year, please complete the 2023 Parent Nomination form and submit it electronically by the deadline.
You can review the GT section in the TeSA Handbook with more information about the GAP program. For questions about this program or nominations, contact Julie Murray at julie.murray@mytesa.org.
Students currently in the GAP program at TeSA do not have to be re-nominated each year as they will automatically continue receiving GT services once they qualify for the program.

Absences
If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please email tammy.smith@mytesa.org. Students with any contagious symptoms may attend Remote Conferencing to complete schoolwork and earn daily attendance. Remote Conferencing helps our students, and helps TeSA by allowing us to count your child's attendance! Thank you for helping your child participate by providing a quiet environment in which they can easily see the screen and be seen by the teacher.
Remote Conferencing
Monday-Friday, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
