Super Cool Resource: The Kids Should See This
Do you want to get your students talking? Check out the blog, The Kid Should See This. This blog displays kid-friendly wonders from science, art, technology and more.
One Roosevelt 2nd grade teacher reports that it's a great differentiation tool that is easy to navigate. It supports a variety of curriculum while engaging ALL learners. It inspires curiosity and my students are asking me for it all of the time!
Here's what some 2nd graders are saying about it...
- It's so cool!
- The animated videos are my favorite!
- Lots of science.
- I watch it home too.
- It tells us stuff about the world
- I loved "A Case for Books"
- "Everything You Need to Know About Earth" was amazing
Look at what Mrs. Marolt's 3rd graders did with our Chromebook Packaging Scraps! Perfect timing for their Native American unit!
The Tech Dept has worked out a process for handling OFF CAMPUS DAMAGE to Chromebooks (or any device for that matter).
- Student turns in damaged device to Stacy.
- Stacy hands out an instruction sheet to do the following.
- Go online to the District's RevTrack -- https://d64.revtrak.net/tek9.asp
- Choose Elementary
- Choose Roosevelt
- Click on Chromebook Incident Fee
- Pay the $20 incident fee
5. Then the Stacy will start the repair process. While device is under going repair, student will use library loaner.
6. Stacy will return the device after it is repaired.
Chromebook Case Distribution
Now that most of our Chromebook cases in the elementary schools have been distributed here is the procedure going forward.
1. Parent emails or prints receipt and gives that to the classroom teacher.
2. Classroom teacher then gathers those per day and gives/forwards the receipts to Stacy.
3. The next day Stacy will deliver the case(s) to classrooms.
4. Stacy denotes this in PowerSchool (checkbox Device Fee Paid)
