CMIT South Elementary School
Week of November 27, 2022

Friday, May 5, 2023
Principal's Desk
Greetings Tiger Families,
We are steadily moving through testing with the completion of 4th-grade testing this week. We will be starting 3rd Grade MCAP testing on Monday, May 8th. Please make sure your students are in school on time and ready to learn and demonstrate their growth on all assessments. Once MCAP testing is completed we will be shifting to DIBELS reading testing for K-2, NWEA Map Testing for grades K-5, and iReady testing for all grades. Assessments provide educators and families with the information to see how students are mastering skills in comparison to their own performance and their peers in our building, locally in the district, statewide, and nationally. This information will not only inform us as educators at the school regarding the interventions we need to plan but hopefully as a family how you can also support your Tiger in struggling areas.
Career Day is on the horizon, Thursday, May 18, 2023, please share the registration link for in-person speakers Career Day Info!!! https://forms.gle/ePdq2VXXEDAHAFE56.
Speakers do not have to be approved volunteers as you will be guests and escorted in the building. We want to expose our children to a diverse field of careers to show how STEM is a part of everything we do. There are also opportunities for families to sign up for field trips. Please reach out to your Tiger’s classroom teacher. The PTO is soliciting donations for equipment and volunteers for Field Day as we are planning an enjoyable event for the school.
For those families who registered and were confirmed for Summer Academy, all of our existing transportation partners confirmed they are willing to provide transportation for students based on demand. Please contact them directly if you arrange transportation please make the school aware of what company will be responsible for transporting your Tigers or if they are participating in a carpool.
Finally, school safety and organization are still paramount in order for CMIT South Elementary to deliver high-quality instruction. Please consistently remind students of the expectations in all parts of the school. Every adult in our building is responsible for holding students accountable and every student is expected to meet the highest expectations for behavior K-5. Thank you families for continuing to work collaboratively so we can guide our students to success.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ronald A. Miller, Jr.
