PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Pleasant Run Elementary Families:
Starting Tuesday, September 8th, all grade K - 8th students will be engaged in NWEA testing. NWEA is an assessment that provides our teachers, students and families with a snapshot of a student’s academic progress. Both IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL students will participate in NWEA. Please look for more information from your child’s teacher next week.
To provide information to our Warren employees and families, our COVID-19 data will be updated and shared each Friday on our district website under the COVID-19 tab. Data for August was posted earlier this week. Included in this data are the number of positive cases by school / facility as well as the total number of individuals (students and staff) who were required to isolate or quarantine. Individuals that are in isolation may or may not have COVID-19 and may or may not have been exposed within Warren schools/facilities. Isolation and quarantine are used to slow the spread of COVID-19. These numbers do not mean that a school or facility is unsafe for students and staff, rather that precautionary steps are being taken to protect all students and staff. We will continue to communicate with staff and families if they are identified as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case.
I want to say thank you to everyone for partnering with us to help keep our classrooms safe. You have done a great job of communicating with us and keeping your kids at home when they are not feeling well. We know attendance is a critical part of a student's success, but the safety of everyone is our top priority. Please continue to communicate with your child’s teacher if your son or daughter is experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or has been tested for COVID-19. In either situation, please keep your child at home.
Our breakfast and lunch distribution for all VIRTUAL students will continue to be Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8:00 - 9:30 at Moorhead Community Resource Center. Also, we have added Tuesday evenings from 4:30-6:00 as an additional distribution time. I would also like to remind our 6-12 students that we are offering a take home meal for your VIRTUAL Application Day.
Reminder: If you have a tech or device need, please submit a help ticket through IncidentIQ support system by clicking on Technology under the Explore Tab and then select Parent Tech Info. Families can also use this process or contact their child’s school to request a WIFI hotspot. We will continue to provide device support at Moorhead Community Resource Center Monday - Friday from 11:00 - 1:00. We have identified about 600 students district wide who have not returned their device from this past spring. Please bring your device to Moorhead or your child’s school. Families will be billed for devices not returned.

For the 2020-2021 school year, Warren Township has transitioned to a new student information system called Synergy allowing our parents and caregivers to have improved access to school information through the parent portal called ParentVUE. We are aware that at his time some students’ attendance records are reflecting students are absent, when in fact they were present. This is mostly the case for our students who are attending school VIRTUALLY on application days or in the VIRTUAL option full-time. We want to assure you that teachers are keeping accurate attendance records and that we are working to correct attendance records for all our students.

We have heard from our parents that the VIRTUAL schedule can be confusing for our students. In response to this feedback, we are designating specific days to our Black and Gold Cohort students in grades K-6th grade. Starting on Monday, August 24, 2020, students will follow the schedule below. *On shortened school weeks, there will not be an Friday Academic Enrichment Friday.
- Don’t forget that we will continue to distribute breakfast and lunches for all VIRTUAL students on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8AM-9:30AM at Moorhead Community Resource Center. We have also added a Tuesday distribution time in the evening from 4:30-6:30PM.
- Thank you for continuing to use Moorhead Community Resource Center to support your device needs. Their hours of operation are Monday-Friday, from 11-1PM. **Your technology needs can also be supported though submitting a helpdesk ticket through IncidentIQ Support System. If you are in need of a WiFi Hotspot, you can use IncidentIQ Support System to make the request or you can contact your homeschool.

PTA NEWS
Joining the PTA allows you to meet some great people. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, to build rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences to make the school year better for everyone.
The mission of the Pleasant Run Elementary PTA is to act in the interest of the children, to encourage understanding and cooperation between parents and teachers, and to promote programs that benefit the success of children’s learning. The Pleasant Run PTA supports education through active participation and advocacy.
Pleasant Run Elementary has a very active and supportive PTA. We sponsor many fun events throughout the school year. We also provide volunteers for many school events as well as provide support for school programs such as Super Reader, Breakfast with Santa and the annual fund raiser. Please join us for a PTA meeting to see what we’re all about.
