Rockfield Elementary
Notes from the Principal
In February at Rockfield we do a lot of things to keep our spirits high even though the sky may be grey and the temps frigid! We look forward to our annual Fitness Day that Ms. Redies put on with the support of GHS Physical Education students. It's also the time of year when we celebrate 100 Days of School! This year we will have fun GLOWING. Students should plan to shine bright that day! Information on these events are below.
This month’s character focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and reduce stress. Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.
Near the end of the month, you will receive information on scheduling your child's Spring Conferences. In the spring we hold Student-Led Conferences. These conferences allow students to show their families what they know, share goals and accomplishments and plan for a strong final quarter of the school year. Any parents who also want a 1:1 parent teacher conference may reach out directly to your child's teacher and request this format in addition to the student-led conference.

Notes from the Health Room
We have had a great start to the New Year here at Rockfield! I'm enjoying meeting your children as they come to the health room once in a while! Typically health room visits are for ice packs, band aids or simply not feeling well! When your child comes to see me their teacher sends them with a health room pass letting me know what their symptoms are and what they tried to do in the class room to resolve it. Somedays the child may just need a bit of rest time on the bed here or to just sit and relax or have a chat about something they feel they need to speak about. I'm here for all of that! I want them to feel comfortable coming to me when they do not feel well but also to understand that they are tough and strong and can usually make it through the day with out having to go home.
I also wanted to inform you that we have been practicing our emergency response drill here at Rockfield! This team responses to any health emergency such as a bad fall, asthma attack, seizure, diabetic emergency, or any other type of injury/emergency. There is a team of teachers, staff and Dr. Croatt that train together and take extra courses to keep us up to date on our emergency response routine. Our District RN, Tammy Mamayak, joins us here at Rockfield to overlook our drill and answer any questions we may have. We recently completed our CPR & AED refresher training at the Germantown Fire Dept!
We have also had a healthy start to our New Year. I'm so proud of all the children that continue to wash their hands and be courteous of others while they are not feeling well. At the beginning of the year our Covid restriction letter was sent out to our families and I have attached another copy for you to overlook. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions!

4K or 5K Registration
Rockfield Families,
Our 4K and 5K registration opened this week. Please complete the online registration if you have an incoming 4K or 5K* for the 23/24 school year. Please note that proof of residency and immunization documents can be uploaded online, but birth certificates need to come into our office at Rockfield to be verified in person. For more information on GSD's 4K program, please click here.
*Note: Online registration is just for new families entering the district. If you currently have a 4K student at MacArthur, you do NOT need to go through the entire online registration process for them to enter 5K in the 23/24 school year. You will need to "verify" their attendance for 5K during the summer months. Information on how to verify their attendance for the next school year will come via email (in July), and is done through Skyward.
More enrollment information and specifics can be found here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the office at 262-628-7622.
