Principal's Message
Thank you so much for your continued support during distance learning! I would like to remind you that it is essential that each family reads all communication sent by the school. These newsletters, Bright Arrows, and teacher communications are very important.
Please take the time to read the Superintendent's Newsletter. There is important information about the upcoming school board meeting, where the board will be discussing the returning to campus planning and the SRO program.
I would like to congratulate the fourth and fifth grade students who ran for Green's Student Council. The videos each student submitted were amazing! It gives me great hope to hear the wonderful things our students want for our school and our world. Please join me in congratulating the following students:
President: Kaden P.
Vice President: Rannvi T.
Treasure: Aarav U.
Public Relations: Gurman K.
Thank you to those who have already donated to our Move-a-thon. Remember all donations go directly to your child's classroom. So far we have raised $4465 and Mrs. Fujisawa's classroom has received the highest amount of donations. You can still donate by visiting Green's website.
Thank you to the PTA for bringing us the virtual Halloween Pumpkin decorating contest. See below for the winners and more PTA news.
Mr. Jun, our librarian, has some exciting information to share with you all. Our virtual book fair is starting soon and you can now check out books for your family. Be sure to read the information below.
Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to me that we work together to help your child do their best.
Sincerely,
Ms. Johnson

It's November, the month of giving thanks! Therefore, I'd like to share Mindful Gratitude ideas! Practicing gratitude has many more benefits than you'd think; it is shown to increase happiness, positivity, and joy. Who wouldn't want these things? Here are a few activities children can make that are fun while practicing gratitude: Gratitude Tree, Gratitude Flower, and Gratitude Jar. Last month, we talked about "mindful listening." I've got an idea to practice both skills at the same time! Use November as an opportunity for a Gratitude Challenge. End every evening by spending a few minutes sitting down with your family or you could do this over dinner. Have each person share 2-3 things they were grateful for that day. By the end of the month, you'd look back and realize there are still many things we could all be grateful for during pleasant and difficult times.
I'd like to end with this following quote: "You can’t feel fear or anger while feeling gratitude at the same time." - Tony Robbins
Stay tuned,
Ms. Huang

Tips for a Successful Conference
1. Plan for conferences. Talk to you child. Jot down questions. Glance over your child’s textbooks and the work he/she brings home. Think about your child’s learning style and study habits.
2. Ask questions about your child’s schoolwork, his/her relationship with students and teachers, and any class or school rules you don’t understand.
3. Stay calm. Don’t get angry or defensive, argue or try to assess blame. Concentrate instead on anticipating problems, finding solutions and developing a good working relationship with the teacher.
4. Share any information that might help the teacher develop a better understanding of your child.
5. Decide with the teacher what, if anything, needs to be done to support your child. Agree on plans, responsibilities and future steps before you leave.
6. If the conference did not include your child, talk with your child after the conference and share what was discussed. Be positive and encouraging.
7. Follow up. Implement your end of any agreement. Keep in touch with the teacher. If the plan doesn’t seem to be working, or if new problems develop email the teacher and ask for another meeting. You are partners with the teacher in fostering your child’s learning.
