Principal's Corner
Dear Parents and Community Members,
The second week of school is officially over, and everyone is doing a great job at settling into the school routine. I have visited several classrooms over the past couple of weeks and I can tell you that your students have amazing teachers! From the new I-Ready math curriculum in elementary classrooms to structured debates in biology, your students have been learning some amazing and fun things. As we move into the third week of school I wanted to send a couple of reminders:
Students can have water bottles, but they should be clear and contain only water.
Students are not allowed to have cell phones on them. Cell phones should be kept at home, in the student’s car (if they drive), or in their last hour class in the locked cell phone holder.
Please do not park or drop students off in the bus lane.
No school on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day. We will resume on Tuesday, September 5.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. My door is always open and I am always willing to help however I can. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Kyla Kirtley
Principal
This week, Mrs. Kirtley presented the first Might Lion Award recipient -- Emersyn Roark (1st grade). Emersyn showed what it means to be helpful and responsible in the classroom. Ms. Wheeler wrote, "While I was gone Emersyn helped my substitute teacher and showed great responsibility as a first grader and Tuscumbia Lion." If you see Emersyn make sure to tell her congratulations!
Thank you to our PTO for the purchase of our kindergarten shirts!
Our baseball season got underway this week, and we're proud of our Baseball Lions for their efforts! Join us next Tuesday at Wheatland and next Thursday at home against Belle.
It's always so great to see our older students interacting with our littles! This week, 3rd grade spent some time in the kindergarten, and Mrs. Bryan put their reading talents to good use.
