BHS Theatre Dept. Proudly Presents Drinking Habits
BHS Theatre Department proudly presents Drinking Habits, a farce by Tom Smith, beginning at 7 pm on Thurs., Oct. 12 - Sat., Oct. 14 in the BHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available in the BHS Activities Office or ONLINE: students & seniors - $8, activities passes are accepted for students, adults - $10.
Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.

SCRA Grants Fund Elementary Projects
The Scott County Regional Authority provides grants for non-profit organizations, educational institutions and government entities benefiting the residents of Scott County, Iowa. We are fortunate to have their support on so many district initiatives over the years and recently projects at our elementaries.
Promethean Active Panels PS, K, Art, Music
The Scott Country Regional Authority awarded a grant of $55,523 to fund 13 Promethean ActivPanels for preschool, art, and music classrooms in our five elementary schools. The technology is an interactive learning tool that empowers teachers to address the needs of all students, create an environment that will facilitate student-centered learning, and actively engage students in their foundational skills learning. Lessons utilizing the Promethean ActivPanels allow teachers to create instruction that enables students to have interactive and purposeful activities.
Neil Armstrong Elementary Preschool Update
The Scott County Regional Authority awarded a $47,367 grant for a preschool classroom update at Neil Armstrong Elementary. The grant helped fund a renovation of a classroom providing additional space for the preschool program with student-centered learning environments. The new learning space allows students to engage in active learning, with an emphasis on collaboration, in an environment that is designed to meet the diverse needs of all students. The furniture and technologies in the preschool classroom focus on the flexibility needed to meet the diverse needs of all students as they explore, share, and create new ideas essential to their learning.
District Receives Grant to Support Students Through Innovative Classrooms
The district was recently awarded $572.6K of start-up grant funds to support the incredibly innovative approach to supporting students called Therapeutic Learning Classrooms (TLC).
The services include supporting staff, creating safe and inclusive environments, and
strengthening our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to serve our highest need students and their families. The overall environmental will support all of our students. It’s not a separate classroom. It is a set of evidence-based services specifically chosen to reduce risk factors associated with mental health symptoms that interfere with school success.
Last year the Bettendorf Community School District was awarded a Therapeutic Learning Classroom Grant at Bettendorf Middle School. Finding great success and partnership with students, their families and staff through the middle school program, the district applied for the 23-24 grant to expand the program in the district!
