Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope you have had a nice week! Our 5th grade Student Council is organizing a canned food drive to support the Maine Township Food Pantry. Beginning on Monday, students can bring in non-perishables to donate. The Food Pantry is stocked with canned vegetables, so they suggest donating other items. We'll collect donations through February 14th.
Please mark your calendar for our Open House on February 8th from 6-7:30pm. As it has been many years since we hosted this event, I wanted to share a bit more about the event and its purpose.
- Families (parents and students) are invited to stop by at anytime between 6-7:30pm, and stay for as long or as little as you'd like.
- The purpose of the event is for students to showcase their learning; you'll visit your children's classrooms to see some of what they've learned this year.
- Please note you'll enter the building through the main entrance at Door 1, which will be unlocked for the event. You can exit through any door.
- While our teachers and staff will be present in the building that evening, please note this event is not intended to be a parent-teacher conference opportunity. We'll have parent-teacher conferences in March, or you are always welcome to reach out directly to teachers to schedule a conversation.
A few reminders:
We know some students have Smart Watches or cell phones - please know students are not permitted to use these items during the day. Devices should be powered off or set to a "school mode". If your child needs to contact you, they can use the phone in our office.
Speaking of calling home, we've had an uptick in students asking to call home for forgotten shoes, homework items, lunches, and other items. Please continue to work with your children at home to create routines to help remembering these items. Please also know it is never our expectation for parents to deliver forgotten items, even if our secretaries call for your child.
Please remember our drop-off areas on Elmore and Wisner are "kiss and go" in the morning. It is very important that you pull up, drop your child off, and drive away. If you'd like to wait and watch your child enter the building, please be sure you park away from these area. Your car shouldn't be present in these spots in the morning for more than a minute. Thank you for your help with this!
Recess is most often outdoors - please ensure your children are dressed for the weather. Students with snow gear can play in the snow; those without need to remain on the blacktop (to stay dry).
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Courtney Goodman
Principal

PTO News
Attention Field Families - the PTO has exciting news for our Field community! We are kicking off a multi-year initiative to replace Field's current playground with a modern, fun, accessible school playground. To get this project started, we are looking for your ideas, expertise and enthusiasm. Specifically, we are looking for families to help in any of the following ways:
- Strategic planning - joining a committee to help with a proposal, project plan and budget
- Fundraising - help us think outside of the box for new school-wide events
- Grant writing
Please reach out to fieldptopresident@gmail.com if you would like to participate. We will be discussing this at future PTO meetings as well, and we welcome your participation.
