Board Briefs
At the May 18th, 2022 Board of Trustees Meeting, board members celebrated our Cougar Champions of the Month, elementary school UIL winners, JHS UIL One Act Play winners, Fishing Team winners, Class of 2022 Top Ten Students (photos are below).
The Board was also given a BOND UPDATE.
In addition, the board took the following action:
- Approved the Consent Agenda
-Approved 2017 Bond Funds for the Portable Facilities
-Approved a New Employee Benefits Agent
-Approved Hiring Andrew Maddox as the New High School Principal (Information about Mr. Maddox is below).
Meet Andrew Maddox: Jarrell High School's New Principal
The Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Andrew Maddox as incoming principal of Jarrell High School.
“Mr. Maddox is a proven educator and an enthusiastic leader who will foster exceptional experiences for our students, families, and staff. He is a terrific addition to our Cougar family,” said Superintendent Dr. Toni Hicks.
Mr. Maddox joins Jarrell ISD from Taylor ISD, where he served as Principal at Taylor High School for the past seven years. During his 30 years of educational experience, Mr. Maddox has served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and high school principal.
At Taylor High School, Mr. Maddox developed a robust academic curriculum that significantly increased students completing Career and Technical Education pathways. He also has a proven track record of integrating classroom technology, leading staff development, and championing students as a high school basketball, baseball, volleyball, and track coach.
“I believe in academic excellence, providing a supportive teaching environment, and a spirit of genuine community among staff and the student population. I’m excited about the present and future opportunities at Jarrell High School. I can’t wait to get to work,” Mr. Maddox said.
Mr. Maddox earned his bachelor’s degree from Adams State College in Colorado. He received his master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
Senior Awards Night
Our senior class were presented with their awards and scholarships last week. It was a wonderful ceremony and joyous celebration. Our seniors have earned more than a million dollars in scholarships! Terrific news. Here are photos from the event.
District Teachers of the Year
Carol Sukup is the elementary school teacher of the year. Megan Murphy is the Secondary Teacher of the Year. Congratulations!
Summer Meal Program
Children need nutritious meals to learn, grow and thrive — even when school is out
With the Summer Meal Programs, children and teens ages 18 and younger, and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old can continue to eat healthy throughout the summer at no cost.
No form of identification is required, kids simply show up. Meal services will operate Monday through Thursday starting May 26 through June 23 at Igo Elementary and Jarrell High School. The times are listed below.

Dual Language Program Applications
