February Parent Events

We wanted to make our process a bit simpler for you. We have consolidated all of our RSVP forms into one. You will find all event descriptions below as normal. Once you decide which events you would like to attend, complete the RSVP form and check the appropriate boxes. Please reach out to Ashley.Anderson@leanderisd.org if you have any questions.

Community College

This month we will have Martha Dorow, MA, CAS, an Accessibility Advocate with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at ACC joining us. SAS Accessibility Advocates review student requests for accommodations, meet with students to discuss accommodations, provide training for faculty and staff, attend community events, and provide ongoing coaching and guidance for students receiving SAS services.

Prior to joining ACC, Martha has previously served as a classroom teacher, agency liaison, and program coordinator. She holds a Texas teacher certification in Secondary ELAR and EC-12 SpEd, and is a Certified Autism Specialist. Join us from 6:30-7:30pm.

This meeting is for all new Special Programs families, whether you're currently in Special Programs, or are seeking information on services in LISD. During this session, participants will learn about the special programs department and how to navigate our resources. You will also have an opportunity to meet other families and learn about what helped make their journey in Special Programs Successful. Join us from 6:30 -7:30pm.

This support group is an opportunity for families of students with Autism to share experiences and resources. Join us from 6:30 -7:30pm.

Building Communication

This month will focus on building and expanding expressive, receptive, and pragmatic skills in the home and community. We will talk about the functions of communication and communication development. Join us from 6:30-7:30pm.

Nothing About Me Without Me!

Join us as we celebrate every voice at the table. We will chat about using AAC with meaningful participation in important life decisions, such as ARD meetings, doctor appointments, and discussions about the future. Join us from 6:30-7:30pm.

If you are unsure about whether or not your child uses AAC, your child’s teacher or speech-language pathologist should be able to help you.
