Congratulations to Our Graduates
Celebrating Achievement and Preparing for the Future
Dear Los Altos Families,
At the end of this unusual school year, I feel it is especially important to celebrate our students' achievements. They persevered and grew despite the abrupt and unprecedented shift from the comforts of their classrooms to the new world of distance learning. While this experience has been a huge challenge, we're proud of their accomplishments and confident they have learned the skills to excel in the next steps of their educational journeys.
To our eighth grade graduates: we know you are prepared for success in high school and beyond. We hope you will keep in touch and share your experiences as a lifelong learner each step of the way.
Sixth graders, we can't wait to join you next year as you move on to junior high school at Egan and Blach for two extraordinarily important years of learning and growth.
To our returning elementary students: your new teacher is looking forward to meeting you and learning with you next year!
To our incoming Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students: we can't wait to meet you as you join our amazing community of teachers, staff and students in our warm, welcoming and inclusive Los Altos School District learning community.
Keep Learning this Summer!
We Can't Wait to See You Next Year
We all know the beginning of the next school year may look different than in years past. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public health restrictions may require some form of social distancing on campuses, as well as some distance learning in our Virtual School. While our preferred option is for all of our students to return to our campuses full-time, our team of administrators and teachers are working to develop a hybrid instructional model, as we believe this model will best comply with the anticipated Santa Clara County public health requirements. A hybrid model would include smaller groups of students on campus for a part of the week, with the rest of the week’s instruction occurring in Virtual School.
Our Board of Trustees will consider a draft plan for the 2020-21 school year at the end of June. We invite all of our families to join us to provide input and feedback. Please check our School Board webpage to register to attend this meeting in coming days. One thing is clear: we all want the same thing. We know that our students learn best when they are in our schools with friends and teachers--our goal is to ensure that we can provide this for all kids.
I hope you have a wonderful summer!
