“Center Schools
is excited to be able to offer a summer school program this year, beginning June 7th – July 15th, with the exception of July 5th. The school will begin at 8:00 am and run until 12:00 pm. All students will enter, and be released, through the front elementary doors. This year’s summer program will be focused on core academic skills like literacy and math in order to close the gap for those students whose learning was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Thanks,
Summer School Principal

Good morning Center community,
I am excited to wish you all a happy summer! It has been a year to be remembered for sure. I want to thank you all for all your patience during this unprecedented time. We have learned a lot and are already looking forward to next fall when we can be back in school with your kids again. Until then, get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and your families!
A few weeks ago we had a zoom meeting in which Ms. Harrington shared the dangers of too much screen time for kids. Mrs. Lucia Miranda has a copy if you would like to see it. In a nutshell, we need to be very careful that we do not allow those that we love to engage in too much screen time. During the summer, we are blessed with weather that allows us to spend more time outside. This is a healthy choice for kids. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
Summer school is right around the corner. If you received a letter from the school, your child is expected to attend. The first day is June 7th. It will go for 6 weeks. Your child will be in school from 8-12:00 noon. They will receeive both breakfast and lunch.
If you would like for your child to attend Center Viking Youth Club, please register them at this link. https://forms.gle/MDohgNTNvPHKeoA46
They can attend beginning right after they finish summer school, or the entire day. Transportation is available for those living further than 3 blocks from the school.
Please have a safe summer! Spend time with your kiddos and enjoy each others’ company. Time flies and before you know it we will all be back in school again.

Haskin Elementary students parents and families,
WE DID IT!! We successfully completed a school year amid a pandemic!! Great job!! For some this means a bit to relax, play and enjoy the weather. For others we need to hold off for a couple weeks. Summer School begins Monday, June 2021 through Thursday July 15, 2021. School begins promptly at 8:00AM and students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon, lunch will be provided.
I have listened to some students complain about Summer School, I wanted to give a different perspective. When I was 7 I got a hand me down bicycle from my older cousin. I was so excited I ran outside jumped on the bike and well let’s just say I had a beautiful black eye from where the cement ‘kissed’ my check. Why did I end up with that shiner? I didn’t have the skills I needed to successfully ride that bike. So my Grandfather came outside brushed off my tears and began working with me to gain the skills and confidence to ride that bike! After his encouragement and consistently running beside me, after about 3 weeks I was riding by myself. Consider Summer School as a chance for us here at Haskin to run beside your children encouraging them and giving them the skills they need to succeed next year!
Those attending Summer School are asked to show up on time and ready to learn every day! (All Elementary students will enter in the Elementary front doors.) We will be practicing the same procedures to check for illness as well as practicing physical distancing, hand washing, and wearing masks as we did during the regular school year. Please be sure your child has sunscreen as I know we will attempt to be outside learning as much as possible.
We are excited to offer this learning opportunity and we cannot wait to see you!
For those of you not joining us for Summer School, we will miss you!!
Stay healthy, stay safe!!
Ms. Harrington
