Thank you, GLOBE community, for a wonderful Science Week!
We hope you learned some things and enjoyed celebrating science. We'd like to thank some special people who helped to make it a success.
Big thanks to the wonderful GLOBE Science Teachers: Ms. Herron, Ms. Schwarzmer, Ms. Johnson, and Ms. Bruen for filming science experiment videos. We are so lucky to have such great teachers!
We greatly appreciate all the families who submitted science videos for our Science Challenge! Thank you so much for participating and sharing your enthusiasm for science!
The Winners
CONGRATULATIONS to William Glennie (Mandarin-K) and Blake Anderson (Spanish-4)!
Each of the lucky Science Challenge winners will receive a family membership to Fernbank Museum for one year.
As Ms. Herron would say, "Stay Curious!"
Upcoming spring photos
Spring photos will be held at Lower Campus on March 15 (Kindergarten and 1st grade) and March 16 (2nd and 3rd grades). Upper Campus will have their photo days on March 22 and 23. Students registered for spring photos may wear an outfit of their choice!
Registration and payment of the $15 sitting fee for each child are required to attend. Sibling registrations are permitted and require their own registration and sitting fee. Sibling sets will be taken on the day of the youngest child's photo.
Click here to register. The registration deadline is March 12. The sitting fee will be applied towards your future purchase. If you have any questions, please email the photographer.
Upper Campus
A message from Mrs. Limor, Assistant Head of School, Upper Campus.
Dear Parents,
It has come time to let you know that I will not be returning to The GLOBE Academy next year. After 7 years of dedicating myself to the GLOBE community, I need to take a few steps back and devote my attention to myself and my family.
I have so enjoyed my time here. It has truly been an honor to design, build, and grow our Upper Campus together. I am proud of the program we have created, and am confident that it will continue to thrive long after my departure.
I look forward to seeing many of you in person over the next few months so that we can make a proper farewell.
Fondly,
Judy
Francophone Day
Upper Campus students will celebrate Francophone Day on Thursday, March 10. Performances will take place in front of a student-only audience during 2nd period (9:10am to 10:00am) and will be streamed live for parents on the Upper Campus Facebook page.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is overflowing with sweatshirts and water bottles! Please ask students to come and check to see if anything belongs to them. Parents are welcome to come and look for themselves on Friday, March 11, between 8am and 3pm, or on Monday, March 14, between 3pm and 5pm. Unclaimed items will be donated on Friday, March 18.
8th Grade Trip
Final payment for the 8th grade trip is due on Tuesday, March 15. Please go to MyPaymentsPlus to make your final payment(s). Overdue accounts will be charged a late fee after March 18. Please reach out to Mrs. Limor if you have any questions.
Lower Campus
Congratulations to our Lower Campus chess team!
The chess team placed second in DeKalb County K-3 at the Georgia Chess Association Metro Atlanta Team State Qualifier. It was a new experience for most participants and everybody had a great time. Pictured left to right are, Albert L., Alexander R., Aubrey M., and Ethan F.
Afternoon carpool
Please do not park on Briarwillow Drive. Parking there, particularly in the afternoon, makes pedestrian crossing on Heritage Drive especially difficult.
STAMP Testing this month
Students in grades 2nd to 8th will take the Avant STAMP (STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency) 4SE (grades 2nd to 5th) in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, and Avant STAMP 4S (Grades 6th to 8th) in Reading Writing Listening, and Speaking in March.
The Avant STAMP 4SE and 4S tests cover real-world content and question types on students’ level. STAMP is an adaptive test that assesses language proficiency.
A score of 5 or higher in all modes on the STAMP 4S qualifies GLOBE 8th grade students for the Global Seal of Biliteracy.
STAMP testing will take place at Upper Campus on March 14 to 18 and Lower Campus on March 21 to 25. For more information on STAMP please visit Avant Assessment. For more information on the Global Seal visit Global Seal.
Admissions
Congratulations to all our lottery selected applicants. The first deadline to accept offers is this Friday, March 11. Log in here to check your lottery application, and to complete enrollment paperwork.
Host families wanted
GLOBE has applied for the French Teaching Intern (FTI) grant from the French Embassy, and the Spanish Conversation and Cultural Assistant (Auxiliares) grant from the Spanish Embassy. We are anxiously awaiting approval!
Pending approval, we will need amazing GLOBE families to share their home with an FTI or Auxiliar. Please contact Robyn Brandman, Host Family Liaison, at robynloren@gmail.com if you would love to host an FTI or Spanish Auxiliar.
Summer Camp / Extended Care Program (ECP)
Global Expeditions Summer Camp Update
Hurry and get on the waitlist for summer camp! Although most spots have been filled, we are maintaining an active waitlist. As spots open up, plans change, people move, students on the waitlist will automatically be moved into the appropriate summer camp class in the order in which they have registered.
You will be notified via email when your student has been moved from the waitlist to the class. If your summer plans change and your student is no longer able to attend, please notify summercamp@theglobeacademy.net as soon as possible so we can let other students have those spots.
Aftercare
We have a limited number of aftercare spaces available. Email cclines@theglobeacademy.net for details.

2022 GLOBE Annual Auction
Auction Registration is OPEN! Visit www.theglobeauction.com to secure your bid number. This year's Auction will be a two-part event beginning with a Silent Auction (April 29) open and free for all through mobile bidding and culminating with an in-person indoor/outdoor event (April 30) at Wild Heaven Brewery in Avondale Estates.
The Auction benefits all PTCC activities throughout the year including teacher appreciation, classroom resources, cultural events, International Fest, campus improvements, Science Night and more. In order to make this possible, we need donations! Know of someone with a wonderful vacation home? Have a favorite boutique or fitness studio in the area? No donation is too big or small.

COVID Corner
Updated mask policy
On March 7, 2022, The GLOBE Academy updated its mask policy for all students. The full policy can be reviewed here. Although masks are not required for entry into the school building, if your child is showing signs and symptoms of COVID-19, please seek a COVID-19 test and have them wear a mask at school until a negative test result is received and their symptoms improve.
Weekly COVID-19 testing
Viral Solutions will be back on campus again on Thursday, March 10, to provide all GLOBE students and staff with access to free rapid antigen testing. The positivity rates of each testing clinic can be found on tab 2 of the Data Dashboard. Results will be updated the day after each testing clinic occurs. If you would like to enroll your student in testing for the semester, you can fill out the consent form here. If you have questions about the testing process or how to receive your student's results, please read the FAQ flyer.
Vaccination survey
We would like to determine how many of our students are fully vaccinated. Understanding the vaccination coverage in our community will help us to make informed decisions about sporting events and meal time locations. To learn more and/or to notify us, click here.
