Please Take the District's Bell Schedule Survey!
Dear PSD staff, parents/guardians, and community members:
The Poudre School District Board of Education is considering changes to school start and end times that would take effect in the 2024-25 school year; the changes would not go into effect immediately. Board members are seeking input on this topic from PSD staff, parents and guardians, and community members through a survey that opens today. Please follow this link to take the survey before it closes on Feb. 21, 2024.
Two scenarios presented to the PSD Board of Education at Tuesday’s business meeting would help PSD busing become more efficient.
One-third of PSD students ride a bus to school, and some of them would not be able to get to school at all, if not for PSD transportation services. In the face of ongoing, significant bus driver shortages, PSD may not be able to continue busing students the way it does now if systemic changes aren't made. We also know it can be difficult for families to adjust to new bell schedules for many reasons.
- Scenario A would shift bell times at 30 schools by five minutes or more (the other 19 schools would have NO shift in start or dismissal times). School start and dismissal times would shift by:
- 5-10 minutes at 10 schools
- 11-20 minutes at 14 schools
- More than 20 minutes at six schools
- Scenario B would be similar to the first scenario, except most schools would start five minutes later than the proposed times in Scenario A, and dismissal times would be five minutes later as well. Compared to current school hours, school start and dismissal times would shift by:
- 5-10 minutes at 27 schools
- 11-20 minutes at 19 schools
- More than 20 minutes at three schools
Start and end times for both Scenario A and Scenario B are attached to this email.
Again, the PSD Board of Education is seeking your feedback on these two scenarios through the survey linked above. Board members will review survey results and information presented at Tuesday’s board meeting and vote on potential start and end time changes at their March 6, 2024, meeting.
We value your input and consideration of these scenarios and the long-term solutions they would provide.
Sincerely,
Poudre School District
Lesher is a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business!
During Fort Collins' Bike to Work Day, Lesher was recognized by the city as a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business. In 2017, Lesher was one of two schools in the state to receive this recognition. Thank you to our staff, students, and community for continuing the tradition! We look forward to celebrating more during our very own Bike Week in the spring.

Costa Rica Trip 2025!
Dear families,
We’re going to Costa Rica in Summer 2025, and you’re invited!
We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: tinyurl.com/lesherCR2025
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
In this info session, we’ll talk about:
- How this opportunity will benefit your student
- What we’ll see and do on our trip
- Everything that’s included in this experience
- How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
- How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity! Our first informational meeting will be February 20, 2024 at 6pm on Google Meet. Register here to get the meeting link: tinyurl.com/lesherCR2025
Thanks,
Amanda Sutton

8th Grade Video Collage!
Hello Families of Lesher 8th Graders!
This is the first call for short videos of your child in their element!
At the end of the school year, a video collage presentation is compiled to celebrate all of the out-of-school / extracurricular activities that our 8th graders participate in. This video montage will be shown during the end of the year celebration just for our departing 8th graders in May.
Do you have a short action video snip (10 seconds or less) of your 8th grader? Maybe you have a moment from a sporting event, engaged in favorite hobby at home, playing with a pet, doing something adventurous -- or a fun moment from a vacation? Anything goes, as long as we can see your child in the video! Horseback riding, theater, magic tricks, biking, hiking, skiing, volleyball, dance, football, surfing, cross country, wrestling, water sports, ziplining, basketball, softball, baseball, track, soccer, trampoline jumping, baking, gymnastics, rubik’s cube speed, unicycling, musical instruments, chess, gaming, disc golf, and weightlifting are several of the moments that have been received and used in years past!
If your child has an event- be sure to grab a few seconds of video and send it along! Sound will not be included in the video, so keep that in mind. Ideally this video montage will have a 2-10 second ACTION video of EVERY 8th grade student! You can submit 2 snips if you can’t pick your favorite- I will try to get all of them in. This is a chance for students to shine in ways that aren’t seen during the school day.
Please email your short video snips to the 8th Grade Day Viking Variety Show Coordinator, Ms. Julie Thompson - juliat@psdschools.org – she will be collecting them throughout the year, up until May 1st.

Laptop Restart
This week, updates have been rolled out to all student laptops. To apply these updates, you'll be required to restart your laptop multiple times. To determine if a restart is necessary, click on the Windows button; if prompted, choose "Update and Restart" or "Update and Shut Down." Ensure your laptop is plugged in and charging before initiating the restart. The process will take approximately 20-30 minutes, with some restarts potentially lasting several hours. Keep the screen open throughout the update. Note that these updates will occur on the second Tuesday of each month. If you encounter any problems or have issues, feel free to reach out to Ed Tech Coordinator Becky Knips at rknips@psdschools.org. Thank you!
