With water fountains off due to Covid mitigation we have a need for donations to help ensure our students stay hydrated. Students can and should bring a water bottle with them to school, but we fully understand that sometimes this gets left at home. In that case, we do have bottled water in the office available, but we are running low.

We are looking for donations of bottled water packs for classrooms.

We are also looking for Dixie cups to fill with our sinks.

If you are willing and able to pick up a pack of bottled water or Dixie cups the next time you are out grocery shopping we would greatly appreciate it!

Students are continuing to have recess outdoors unless the temperature dips below 10 degrees with windchill. In order to play in the snow students need to have their gear which includes boots, snow pants, and gloves. If you need assistance with snow gear please contact our FFO Brittany Cooley (cooleyb@urbandaleschools.com). We want to be sure that all of our kids have the opportunity to build forts, slide down the hills, create, and play in the winter wonderland!

Due to the snow, we did update our playground zones. Students are still staying within their cohorts, and this has been going VERY well! However, due to the snow, they are now sharing the blacktop if they don't have their snow gear. You can see this pictured to the right.

We have multiple jobs available working for our Nutrition Services Department. Mrs. Jessy Sadler, our director, is one of the kindest most positive people I know, and she would be amazing to work with. If you have any interest please reach out to her at sadlerj@urbandaleschools.com

Ms. Rosalie Daca, will be the next Superintendent of Urbandale Community Schools effective July 1, 2021. Ms. Daca is currently serving as Chief Academic Officer in the Racine Unified School District in Racine, Wisconsin. You can review Rosalie Daca’s resume and video responses to three questions that were part of the application here, as well as the Meet the Candidate Forum that can be found here.

The Superintendent Search process began this past September by seeking input and perspectives from students, parents, staff, and community members about the most important qualities in a Superintendent. Those data points informed the decision-making when narrowing down the 41 applicants to three finalist candidates. The feedback received from the Candidate Impression forms that were submitted from students, parents, staff, and community members following second-round interviews, as well as following the Meet the Candidate Forums, was of great value in this incredibly hard decision. All three finalist candidates were highly qualified and the process of selecting one individual for this important role was extremely difficult.

Thank you to students, parents, staff, and community members for engaging in this process over the past three months. Also, thank you to the Board of Directors for their time commitment to this process.
