Dear Parents / Carers,
I think our last full week has been the busiest week of the year, what a week!
We started the week with the Y5 and Y6 production dress rehearsal for the whole school which was wonderful. Years five and six worked incredibly hard on their production which was then shown to parents and wider friends and family on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon. They wowed their audiences with fantastic acting, singing and dancing, great comic timing and amazing memories to learn all those words in the script. Well done to everyone involved for putting on a fabulous show and thank you to the staff involved for their hard work and patience over several weeks. It was brilliant!
Tuesday saw Years three and four heading off to Murton Park to have an immersive experience in the iron age and as Vikings respectively. These are always great trips for enhancing the children's learning and give them a real feel for what it may have been like in England at that point in history. They spent the whole day outside and represented our school values of perseverance and respect wonderfully. We are proud of you, Zephaniah and Milligan classes!
On Thursday our dance club took over the assembly to show us what they have been working on. They clearly enjoy the club and are becoming accomplished dancers and we enjoyed what they showed us. Well done to those children.
Thursday was also a very exciting day and night for Zephaniah class, Year 4 as they enjoyed camping on the school field. They worked well together to put up their tents, play games in teams and support each other and even managed around 6 hours sleep! Today they have spent the day completing a range of activities outside learning new skills. Great work Year 4 and thank you to the staff in school that volunteered to stay over to make events like this possible.
Finally, today Donaldson class enjoyed a trip to Tropical World to learn about the animals and plants that can be found there. They had a wonderful time and were on their best behaviour showing good manners and respect and learning lots. Well done Donaldson on your first school trip, we are proud of you!
Phew! What a week! Next week will be focussing on saying goodbye to our lovely Year 6 children as they make their move up to high school.
Finally, this week I need to say thank and goodbye to both Mrs Bamforth and Mrs Skelton who are moving on to new adventures. Mrs Bamforth has been an integral part of our school for 15 years and has had a variety of roles from Early Years TA to Forest School Lead and lately our Learning Mentor and Pastoral Lead. Her impact on the school and its families has been huge and she will be missed as will Mrs Skelton who is moving onto a role outside of teaching. We wish them both well and good luck in their new ventures.
We finish school at 3:15pm on Tuesday afternoon for the summer holidays. It has been a fantastic year with lots of great progress and lots to celebrate. School opens again to children on Tuesday September 5th at 8:35am. Have a wonderful, restful and safe break and I look forward to seeing you back in school in September.
Have a lovely weekend,
Karen Williams

Head Pupils Speech
As our final week of this academic year draws to a close we are pleased to say it has been filled with fun and laughter. The whole school has enjoyed the excitement of their final week in their classes, engaging in a range of fun activities. There has been lots of brilliant things going on such as: the year six production, sleepovers and a fabulous key stage one choir performance. We have loved this role and seeing what goes on across the school. We are sad to leave Kirk Fenton but we are looking forward to continuing on our journey and hope you follow in our footsteps. Let your light shine.
Head Pupil Awards went to all staff.

Eco Team
We have made it to the end of a very busy year. We are still working towards our action plan and this will continue in September. The Eco-Committee are still busy encouraging everyone to 'switch off' and save energy. We are also recycling our paper and plastics but there is still so much more to do. Watch this space in September for an update.
Have a great summer and remember to reduce, re-use and recycle.

What a fantastic year we have had, thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. We're really pleased with the amount we have raised this year, and it's been fantastic to hold events like the fairs and disco's again for the children, and it's great to be able to end the year knowing we are able to supply 30 new Chromebooks for the school.
We're already underway with events for next year, and would love to see lots of you at the Hooting Owl Gin Tasting on Friday 22nd September. See the poster for more information and you can buy your tickets at our SumUp Store.
We'll be holding our AGM in October, and would love to welcome some new committee members, so keep a look out for dates if you are interested in joining us.
