News from the Nurse
Our Kindergarten classes ROCKED their screenings with the nurse this week!! I’m so proud of how they listened, followed directions and helped make sure everything went smoothly.
1st Grade will begin their screening process on Monday and will continue through the week.
If a student does not pass their hearing or vision screening they will be rescreened within the next few weeks. If they do not pass it on the 2nd attempt a referral will be sent home to follow-up with the eye doctor or their pediatrician.

Once we receive your RSVP, we will pre-print your visitor’s badge. Remember, badges can only be pre-printed for adults who have had their ID scanned in our Raptor system this school year. If you have not had your ID scanned as a visitor this school year, you are welcome to stop by the front office by 10/30 to have it scanned. We will collect RSVPs through NOON on Monday, October 30th. After that, the RSVP form will be closed and all visitors will need to check in with the front office on the day of the event.
All guests are welcome to arrive starting at 7:50am to check in and make their way to the cafeteria. Guests who have RSVP'd should stop by the RSVP table to pick up their pre-printed tag. Visitors who do not have a pre-printed badge will need to check in with the front office. ALL visitors need to bring identification!
If you have questions about attending this performance, please contact Mrs. Lane at belinda.lane@humbleisd.net or call 281-641-1500. Pleae reach out to WHE Music Teacher, Jenny Heyl, if you have any questions about the performance. Thank you!
Veterans Day Performance
On Friday, November 10th at 8:30 a.m, the 3rd Grade will be leading the traditional WHE Veterans Day Program. The 3rd Graders will lead this tribute as we honor all men and women who have served or who are currently serving in the United States Military. There will be NO evening performance. All veterans, parents, and friends are invited to attend our celebration at Woodland Hills Elementary. Please RSVP if planning to attend in person. Please fill out the RSVP Google Form. Please remember that all guests must check in with the office before entering the school. Check in begins at 7:50 am and please bring your id!
All students are asked to wear: a red, white, and blue for this performance. Please no shorts.
If your student will have a guest (family member/friend/neighbor) who has served or who is currently serving in the United States Military attending the Veterans Day program at WHE on November 10th, they will be given the opportunity to announce and recognize their guest. Please help your student know the following things about the guest that is attending: Name of guest, branch of military, rank, what they did while serving, years of service, etc. I’m attaching a form that can be filled out and returned for the student to use during our practices.
Another way to honor all veterans will be through a slideshow. All WHE students can recognize a veteran who is deceased or who is not able to attend the program. Please fill out this Google Form by Friday, November 3rd in order to honor your veteran in our Veterans Day slideshow. This form can also be found on the WHE Website/Woody’s Word. The WHE Veterans Day Slideshow will be played at the end of the 3rd grade program.
Campus & Lunch Visitors
All visitors should use the front doors and check in with the WHE Front Office upon arrival to campus. Please be prepared to provide your identification/license to our receptionist when visiting WHE. All visitors must wear their WHE Visitor badge in a visible place while in the building, and must check out with the front office upon departure.
In order to maintain safety and not disrupt our learning environment, guests are only permitted to visit the specific area they have signed in for. This may include the main office, clinic, meeting rooms, cafeteria, or other designated areas. Visitors are not allowed on our playgrounds during recess, and may not visit classrooms or academic spaces without prior authorization from WHE administration. Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe!
Cafeteria Reminders
In addition to the above procedures, we ask that all cafeteria guests be respectful of the following guidelines when visiting the WHE cafeteria:
Guests are required to sit at the special "guest" tables located in the center of the cafeteria and should only sit with their child.
Lunch guests may not walk around the cafeteria to visit with other students and may not share/purchase food for any other students except their own.
In order to avoid crowding, visitors may be asked to wait in the front foyer until it is lunch time. Lunch visitors must check out with the front office when their child's lunch is over.

Parents must provide the parent note to the campus within 48 hours of the student’s return to school. If your child is out due to an appointment, please submit a doctor's note to the office, so that coding in eSchool can be updated accurately.

- Excuse note returned with student following absence and given to the front office
