We Are Called
Sept. 3, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
Can Adoration change your life?
I started going to Adoration regularly when I was seeking a scheduled time for God after my husband joined the church in 2000 and those classes were completed. With 4 children 4 years old and under, 3 am on Tuesdays seemed to be a time that I wouldn't have many conflicts with. I have been going every week since.
Spending time with Jesus has brought me great peace and clarity. It has become necessary during some points to go and "leave things" with him. Other times, it has been comfort for the petitions on my heart. Finally, it changes my thoughts when I am not there - I especially remember driving to Iowa after my dad went into cardiac arrest and the peace and strength that those many hours in Adoration brought me. I still believe sitting with Jesus and asking Him what He wants of me brought me to Catholic Education.
I am excited that we are going to be able to help our students on a monthly basis learn to spend time with Jesus. There won't be trendy music, vibrant speakers or beautiful art - it will be us with Jesus. It will be a time when we encourage the children to "tell" Jesus about their lives, share with Him what makes them happy and sad, ask Him to help and finally to dream about Heaven.
St. Ambrose, one of the four original doctors of the Church, taught Transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the real presence of Christ, "Be convinced that this is not what nature has formed, but what the blessing has consecrated. The power of the blessing prevails over that of nature because by the blessing, nature itself is changed... Could not Christ's word, which can make from nothing what did not exist, change existing things into what they were not before? It is no less a feat to give things their original nature than to change their nature." (CCC1375)

From our Consuler
It seems that Labor Day comes at a good time this year. The students have had some time to adjust to the schedules and now they get an extra day to catch up on rest. It is a great privilege to get to know your children and support them in their social and emotional needs. After the students return, if you think they need extra support please reach out to me. I look forward to working with you, your children, our outstanding teachers and staff to make this a year healthy and happy.
With gratitude,
Lori
From the Nurse
We have had 18 positive/presumptive positive students and one positive staff member. We have our testing supplies to be able to test students who have been exposed but are without symptoms so they can avoid quarantine. These students get tested for 5 school days in order to be allowed in school each day. Nurse Mary will discuss your situation with you to determine if you are eligible to be tested at school. We are continuing our mitigation strategies from last year - deep cleaning, frequent handwashing, distancing and masking. The biggest thing that keeps us all healthy is when you are sick to stay home. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Yearbook Club
Calling 5th-8th grade students interested in creating the 2021-2022 Yearbook!
Yearbook Club will meet Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the school Computer Lab. Yearbook Club will begin Wednesday, September 22.
Students in 5th -8th grade are eligible for Yearbook Club. Yearbook Club will be limited to 13 students per semester. Older students will be given preference if there are more than 13 students wanting to join the Yearbook Club. A “waiting list” will be established if needed.
Yearbook Club members will work with Mrs. Barragree to create the 2021-2022 Sacred Heart School yearbook. They will use computers and digital cameras, select and organize photographs, take some photographs, and decide what words should be used to best express our school year. They will also help decide what cover to use and what sections to include.
Yearbook Club members need to be responsible, reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to work as a team.
We are very excited to offer this free activity for Sacred Heart students! It has been a great success in previous years.
A schedule for Yearbook Club and a Sign-up Form are included in the newsletter. Please complete the sign-up form, cut it off, and return it to the front office or Mrs. Barragree on or before Wednesday, September 15, if you are interested in joining Yearbook Club.
