EVENT TODAY!
The Dangers of Fentanyl
The district recently sent out information about the dangers of fentanyl, including a link to a film that is being shown in our high schools. I would encourage you to view the film and consider watching it with your junior high school student: https://youtu.be/iJgPmrLjkuo
I encourage you to have a conversation with your student about not purchasing or taking any unknown substances. A drug laced with a tiny amount of fentanyl can be deadly.
For more information, the City of Santa Clarita will be holding a parent symposium titled "Chasing the High" this evening, September 23rd. The resource fair begins at 5:30 and the symposium begins at 6:00 pm, at the Santa Clarita City Hall.
Counseling Corner

National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)
Eighth graders who earned at least a 3.5 GPA for both 3rd and 4th quarters of the previous school year, are eligible for possible induction into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). NJHS is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to middle school students and 8th grade students were notified of their eligibility through our NJHS Google Classroom. If you have questions concerning the application and/or need additional information, please email Miss Dabbeekeh @ jdabbeekeh@hartdistrict.org, or your student can find her in room 221 if they have any questions.
Seventh grade students will be eligible for NJHS next semester.
Suicide Awareness Workshop
September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, so we are hosting a peer-led "Suicide Awareness Workshop led by amazing Valencia students, Maya Shankar and Emily Dibene.
We know that sharing information about suicide awareness to peers is vital as they will likely encounter a situation where a peer needs support, resources and helpful direction.
