Year End News
Principal's Messages
Dear Chester Ronning School Community,
This week we are wrapping up another school year and, as always, it has been quite a year, indeed! This may have been the most settled year I have experienced since returning to Chester Ronning School and it was nice to start and finish the year in our new school building and to just get on with making it feel like our home for learning. For some reason, though, this year seemed just as busy as every other. I am sure that the students feel the same way and staff and students alike must be eagerly anticipating the change of pace that the summer months will bring.
We learned a lot during our this initial year in the new building. For example, it has been great watching the evolution of how teachers utilized the flex areas this year and we will continue to learn how to maximize these spaces for learning. We have new Makerspace furniture and hands-on learning centers arriving so we are really excited to develop opportunities for students to flex their creative muscles and engage in science and technology-based learning. We're really excited about the development of this part of our school for next year. We have another new playground installation happening over the summer and we're also hopeful that the Circle of Courage mural from the old building will finally be moved over. It should all lead to an exciting start back in the fall!
As a final note, I also want to take this opportunity to send off some very important members of our school community. As always, we have a group of Grade 5 students who are moving on to new schools and our entire staff wants to wish them all the very best. They have such bright futures and we know that they will go on to do some great things! We also have some changes on our staff and we are wishing three Educational Assistants, Mrs. Forre, Mrs. Hycha, and Mr. Russell, very fond farewells. Mrs. Forre has been a has been a fixture at Chester Ronning School for more than two decades and, while she maintains an air of mystery around her exact plans for the future, we're sure the next chapter in her story will be an exciting one! Mrs. Hycha is concluding another stint at CRS and, although the Kindergarten and Grade 1 students may have known her best this year, I think that almost every student at CRS has benefitted from her amazing and very generous work with the Breakfast Club! And as for Mr. Russell, his great work with the Grade 4s and 5s will be missed, as will his slick moves on the soccer pitch at recess times! The entire CRS staff wishes the absolute best for these three amazing educators!
A new school year will bring new students, new staff, new friendships, new opportunities and new experiences. I'm sure that the odd challenge will be mixed in there too but those will just help us to learn and grow! First though, we have a summer to enjoy! I sincerely hope that the next two months will give our entire school community a chance to unwind and be rejuvenated by their loved ones and a change of pace. I hope everyone who is returning to CRS in the fall comes rested and ready to learn!
Take good care and see you all on Tuesday, September 5th!
Yours in Education,
Reid Lansing

Transportation - Changes for 2023-2024
Since BRSD sent out information on Friday, June 9, many of you will be aware that the Provincial Government announced a mandatory change in how school divisions offer transportation to families and that, starting next year, transportation will be available to all BRSD students in Grades K-6 who live more than 1.0 kilometers of actual driving distance from their designated schools.
This is great news for approximately 750 students in the City of Camrose who are now eligible for transportation to school! In order to accommodate this increase in students riding the bus, city school buses will need to run double routes, both in the morning and in the afternoon. This means that some elementary schools will need to move their schedules slightly earlier and others will start and end a bit later than in the past.
