Primary Students and Google Accounts

Hey K-2 Friends! Do you want your kids to have Google accounts to easily word process and take advantage of some other features? Do you want to try Google Classroom? Your kids are in - we just have to activate them! Let me know if you are interested in getting started and we can set up a time to talk and get this rolling in your classroom.

Super Cool Resource: Answer Garden

Do you want to try a super cool tool for Brainstorming with your students? Check out AnswerGarden, where you can plant a question and grow answers!


Its quick and easy to set up and gives your students a great visual when brainstorming ideas and answering questions.


Erin M. tried it this week and here's what she has to say...


"I LOVE Answer Garden! I will post a question for my kids to answer or a topic I wish to have discussed as a whole, and the kids respond to the answer/topic on their Chromebooks. Each individual response shows up on everyone's Chromebook, so the kids can see what everyone has written. It's the greatest technological brainstorming tool EVER!"

Do you want help setting up a Google Contacts Group?

Many teachers find this more reliable than emailing through Power School - and even though it takes a minute to set up, it is well worth it over the course of a year! To set up a Google Contacts Group...

  • Go to your Gmail
  • Click on the nine squares in the upper right hand corner next to your name
  • Choose Contacts
  • Scroll down on the left hand side to where it says "New Group"
  • Name your group (i.e. Parents 2014-2015) and press "Ok"
  • Click on the group name on the left hand side
  • Press the button that is a person icon with a plus sign
  • Type in your parent email addresses (you can do multiple at once by separating with a comma)
  • Click add


Now when you go back to your email, all you need to do is put in the contact group name in and you can send an email. Feel free to make other groups that you email frequently too!
