Isolation and Quarantine Update
Timeframes reduced to 5 days, options simplified
Jan. 11, 2022
Dear Canby families,
We have good news to share that will further reduce the amount of class time missed due to COVID-19 illness or exposure. Effective Jan. 6, 2022, Clackamas County Public Health aligned its isolation and quarantine guidelines with the Centers for Disease Control.
That brings two significant changes:
- Those who test positive for COVID-19 will now isolate for five days, down from 10, and may return to school on day six as long as they are fever-free for 24 hours and other symptoms have been improving.
- Students who are exposed to COVID-19 now have three simplified, shortened quarantine options, detailed on the graphic below. The Test to Stay option requires parent consent for at-school testing. Please fill out our new online permission form.
Of course, each situation is unique, so in the event of a positive test result or exposure, expect to coordinate with your school and district nurses to determine the date your student(s) will return to school.
For more information, including where to find testing and vaccination clinics, please visit our COVID-19 Information Page.
We will continue to update you when more information becomes available. Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Kristen Wohlers
