Hemlock High School

Congratulations to our Robotics team for delivering an outstanding performance at the FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas. The event was attended by 35,000 people and 456 teams from around the world.

Gray Matter's season performance placed them in the 97th percentile of all FRC teams.

The senior class will be holding a bake sale beginning 4/27 in the mornings.

Date Changes: We had a conflict with the original date of Baccalaureate so that date has changed as well as we moved senior rehearsal to the morning of commencement.

Loons Game - The seniors will be going to Dow Diamond on Tuesday, May 3rd. Bus will leave around 9am and return by 2:20pm. Cost will be covered by the senior class fund. You MUST sign up in the office on 4/25 & 4/26 so we have an official count of how many are going.

4/21/22 - V Tennis vs. Frankenmuth - L (1-7) Sophia Hauffe won her singles match 6-2 & 6-0.

4/21/22 - JV Girls Soccer @ John Glenn - W (1-0) The girls played an outstanding game despite an uphill battle in which they faced a full 70-minute game without any subs while playing the final 30 minutes short 2 players. The team poured every ounce of effort into the game leading to a Huskie goal by Izzy Krueger with 8 minutes left in the game. Maddie Wenzel and Mallory Dinninger finished the game in goal for a combined shut out, stopping 4 Bobcat shots.

4/21/22 - V Girls Soccer @ John Glenn - T (2-2) The girls Varsity Soccer team played to a 2-2 tie in a physically demanding contest against BC John Glenn. Holding their composure together Chloe Watson and Logann Clayton had the goals for the Huskies, while Avery ross had 5 saves on the night.

Hemlock collected 13 hits including 3 from Lilly Martinez, 2 a piece from Averi Hall, Andi Chad, Kate Noyes, and Ryley Chamberlin. Regan Finkbeiner & Cayla Konop each added a hit a piece. Cayla Konop struck out 9 hitters.

Game 2 - T (5-5)

Hemlock tallied 10 hits including 2 a piece from Regan Finkbeiner, Lilly Martinez, and Andi Chad. Cayla Konop, Karissa Hill, Ryley Chamberlin, and Lilly Spillane each added a hit a piece.

Cayla Konop struck out 5 hitters.

Jake Shelagowski and Anthony Zechmeister combined to throw a shutout while striking out 11 batters over 5 innings

Game 2 - W (14-4)

Blake Stockford, Max Dinninger, Chad Brown, Caiden Larkin, Shane Renas all pitched and gave up 3 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 8 batters

Blake Stockford was hot - hitting two doubles and had the two run walk off home run to right center. He had 4 RBI’s

Bryce Murphy had 2 hits and 4 runs

Corbin Larkin, Max Dinninger, Anthony Zechmeister, Liam Zastrow all had one hit and one run

4/21/22 - Varsity Golf Two-Man Scramble - 1st place with 106. Carson Countegan & Derrick Young shot a 38, Zach Krueger & Rocco Rosa 33 and Gabe Lutzke & Dawson Reidsma 35.

4/23/22 - V Girls Tennis @ Bullock Creek Quad - Winners were Sophia Hauffe (all three matches), Laci Lee won one match and Carly Siler won two matches.

4/23/22 - V Girls Track & Field @ Breckenridge - 6th place. Earning medals were:

- Regan Finkbeiner, 1st place in 100 meter dash with 13.34

- Regan Finkbeiner, 4th place in 200 meter dash with 28.19

- Izzy Curry, 3rd place in 400 meter dash with 1:02.21

- 4x100 meter relay team of Izzy Krueger, Klaira Salo, Regan Finkbeiner & Lillian Martinez, 1st place with 53.81

- 4x200 meter relay team of Regan Finkbeiner, Lillian Martinez, Klaira Salo & Reagan Keyser, 3rd place with 1:54.63

- Reagan Keyser, 1st place in High Jump with 5'0"

- Izzy Curry, 2nd place in High Jump with 4'11"

4/23/22 - V Boys Track & Field @ Breckenridge - 8th place.

- Our 4 x 100 Relay Team of Robert Knapik, Seth Mills, Dennis Schaffer and Cole Wesener raced to a 1st Place finish with a time of 46.23, which is currently ranked as #1 in the region.
- Knapik also ran to a 1st Place in the 100M Dash.
- Landon Zastrow High Jumped to a height of 5’6” earning placement and meet points for Hemlock.
- PR’s were earned by many of our athletes which is a great indicator of improvement.

4/22/22 - JV Baseball vs. MLS - W (15-0) & W (20-0)

4/22/22 - V Soccer vs. BC Central - W (3-2) Leading the way for the Huskies was Ella Wardlow with 1 goal and 1 assist. Logann Clayton and Izzy Curry Each scored had a goal of their own. Avery Ross finished the game with 9 saves in goal.

4/25/22 - V Soccer @ Ithaca - W (1-0) Izzy Curry scored the game winner with 2 minutes left in the game. Avery Ross completed the shut out with 4 saves in goal.

4/25/22 - V Tennis @ John Glenn - W (5-3)

Jake Shelagowski was the starting pitcher going 5 innings giving up 0 earned runs. He struck out 8 batters and gave up 0 hits.

Anthony Zechmeister - came in to close and pitched 2 innings giving up 0 earned runs to get the combined shutout.

The Huskies collected 12 hits in the game. Lilly Spillane, Andi Chad, Ryley Chamberlin, Kate Noyes, and Lilly Martinez each collected 2 hits a piece.

Regan Finkbeiner led the way with 5 stolen bases, Lilly Martinez with 3, Averi Hall with 2, and Andi Chad with one. Cayla Konop struck out 10 batters on the night.

RBI leaders were: Regan Finkbeiner - 3 & Averi Hall - 2

Andi Chad, Cayla Konop, Kate Noyes, and Lilly Spillane each added an RBI a piece.

Any boy grades 9-11 interested in soccer next fall there will be a short meet and greet opportunity for you and your parents with Coach Markey. This will take place Thursday, April 28th at 5:30 pm in The Commons.
