Mustang Monthly

This month has flown by! Thank you to our St. Elmo Community for helping us through a wonderful first 10 weeks of school. We feel like we have momentum in the classroom and we are ready to push ourselves to learn as much as we can, every day.

There are many upcoming events listed below and we are working on getting our Prime Time after school classes lined up as well (stay tuned for that info coming soon).

Thank you so much for recognizing me during Principal Appreciation Week. I am grateful to be the lead learner in this wonderful community and your generosity was greatly appreciated.

Let's focus on getting here on time, ready to learn, every day. Let's also make sure we continue to work on the skills we learn in class, both socially and academically, while we are at home too!

¡Este mes ha pasado volando! Gracias a nuestra comunidad de St. Elmo por ayudarnos durante unas maravillosas primeras 10 semanas de clases. Sentimos que tenemos impulso en el aula y estamos listos para esforzarnos por aprender todo lo que podamos, todos los días.

Hay muchos eventos próximos que se enumeran a continuación y estamos trabajando para que nuestras clases extracurriculares de Prime Time también estén alineadas (estén atentos a esa información próximamente).

Muchas gracias por reconocerme durante la Semana de Agradecimiento al Director. Estoy agradecido de ser el alumno principal en esta maravillosa comunidad y su generosidad fue muy apreciada.

We started the year doing very well as far as getting to school on time. Thank you to the vast majority of families who make arrangements to ensure your child is here by 7:45am every day. Remember, we open the doors as early as 7:00am if you need to drop pff early. Students are late if they arrive after 7:45am. When students are late, it disrupts the entire flow of their class. Our teachers have created a tight and specific schedule and just a few minutes will disrupt learning for others. This is not acceptable. I know we can do better with getting to school on time. Please do everything you possibly can to get your child to St. Elmo before 7:45am. Let us know if you have questions or concerns.

Empezamos el año muy bien en cuanto a llegar a tiempo a la escuela. Gracias a la gran mayoría de familias que hacen arreglos para garantizar que su hijo esté aquí a las 7:45 am todos los días. Recuerde, abrimos las puertas a las 7:00 a. m. si necesita dejar a pff temprano. Los estudiantes llegan tarde si llegan después de las 7:45 am. We encourage our students to treat their minds and bodies well. This includes not eating too much sugar or empty calories. Please keep this in mind when sending snacks with your children. We do not allow any eating in the classroom, with the exception of breakfast.

St. Elmo Community,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am so excited to welcome all our new and returning students and their families back to school. This year our theme is ¡Orale! Let’s Go! For our purposes, ¡Orale! means encouragement and action in the present moment. This phrase will serve as our motivational statement for the year as we push ourselves to learn and grow as much as possible.

We are thrilled to welcome five new teachers to our campus this year: Tessa Brust (2nd grade), Brandi Hartman and Carla Torres (3rd grade), Sandra Guerra (4th grade), and Maggie Woodul (5th grade). We are grateful they have chosen to join the Mustang family and they can’t wait to meet all of you.

Here are some updates and reminders for this school year:

• Tardy bell rings at 7:45am, students are considered late after then
• We welcome kids into the building as early as 7:00am. At 7:30am they move to their classrooms to begin eating breakfast
• Dismissal is at 3:10pm (this is later than last year)
• We will be welcoming visitors to join their child for lunch beginning on Sept. 5
• All visitors must check in at the front office
• Parent and student goodbyes will take place at the front door of the school--PK3 and PK4 will stay in the cafeteria until 7:45am (goodbyes said at front door)

Here are some upcoming dates to be aware of:

• August 14 First Day of School
• August 23 Students receive their electronic devices at school
• August 29 Coffee with the principal @ 8:00am
• September 7 Back to School Night from 4:30pm – 6:00pm

I am so grateful to serve as the lead learner of this wonderful community for a sixth year. We are ready to welcome you all to LEARN BELONG and GROW at St. Elmo.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2023-2024! Estoy muy emocionada de dar la bienvenida a todos nuestros estudiantes nuevos y antiguos y a sus familias de regreso a la escuela. Este año nuestro lema es ¡Orale! ¡Vamos! Para nuestros propósitos, ¡Orale! significa aliento y acción en el momento presente. Esta frase servirá como nuestra declaración de motivación para el año mientras nos esforzamos por aprender y crecer tanto como sea posible.

Estamos encantados de dar la bienvenida a cinco nuevos maestros a nuestro campus este año: Tessa Brust (2.° grado), Brandi Hartman y Carla Torres (3.° grado), Sandra Guerra (4.° grado) y Maggie Woodul (5.° grado). Thank you for helping us make dismissal go as smoothly as possible.Here are a few reminders:

• PK-3 students are dismissed at 2:30pm
• If you want to wait on school grounds after picking up your 3 yr old, please check in at the office in order to get a sticker. Then, you are welcome to wait in the Butterfly Garden until dismissal at 3:10pm. Our teachers are trained to question any non staff members who don't have badges or stickers. Thank you for helping us stay safe.
• Our students will not be outside and ready for pickup until 3:10pm this school year. We are maximizing every minute of instructional time.
• We may not be able to accommodate any early dismissal requests if you call the school after 2:30pm. By that time, we are already beginning our dismissal procedures and there may not be a staff member available to handle a late request like this. Of course, let us know if there is an emergency, etc.
• If possible, please try and have car seats, etc. on the right side of the car so our kiddos can get in without having to walk around the vehicle.
