Artists Amaze Me

"Tuesdays are the best day of the week, I look forward to Art Club with Mrs. Lee. Aleena," a 5th Grader, shared. Mrs. Lee, Sward's Art Teacher, sponsors a fall and spring Art Club that meets after school. This smaller group environment provides the opportunity for students to engage in complicated and more detailed projects.

Hometown Staff's Bowling Bunch

The PBIS committee at Hometown School decided that good vibes among employees benefits the entire school environment. On Monday April 3, several staff members decided to plan an outing at Arena Lanes in Oak Lawn. Staff quickly found out that several people were VERY good, while others were better with bumpers.

STEM Night

On Wednesday March 22nd, we had our annual STEM night. Families and students had a fun filled night where they got to visit different themed stations with fun hands on activities. We had 5 different stations where families got to learn more about how shadows form, restoring an ecosystem on time, making catapults, mystery jars, shadow drawing and how pitches form.

OLHMS eSports Team Visits SXU

27 of OLHMS' eSports athletes had the opportunity to visit Saint Xavier University on March 23rd to meet with their eSports team! During the field trip, the OLHMS eSports team met with two collegiate athletes who shared some insight into their program.

iFest Brings Cultural Acceptance to OLHMS

The 7th annual International Fest (iFest) was held at OLHMS on Friday, March 23rd as staff and students headed out for Spring Break! Ms. Nuhie Faheem, OLHMS Spanish teacher, spearheads the festivities each year to help educate staff and students about different cultures and traditions around the world.

8th Grade College Tours

On Monday, April 3rd, 8th grade OLHMS students participated in the 1st ever College Tour! Our College Tour was set up by Dr. McNichols, who got in contact with Moraine Valley Community College and Trinity Christian College. Between our 8th grade, 8A students went to Moraine Valley Community College and 8B went to Trinity Christian College.

"When will we use this?" This is a question teachers often hear from their students. As students grow as learners, they naturally begin to question what they are learning. The answer to the question is simple; students learn these concepts because they will use them throughout life.

Kolmar Spring Parties!

On March 24th Kolmar PTA put together amazing classroom parties for our coyotes! The spring parties were a great way to celebrate all the successes and hard work of our students and send them off to spring break! We are so thankful to the PTA for putting this all together and making these fun experiences possible!
