Absences
Please remember to call in or email absences by 8:45 AM. You can call our student absence line (847) 318-4390 (ext 1) is available 24 hours a day or email Mrs. Linda Berleth at lberleth@d64.org.
If the absence is illness related, please also make sure to include Franklin's nurse, Mrs. Queta Karstens, at qkarstens@d64.org.
Dear Franklin Community,
The construction team is preparing to lay the blacktop pathway from the back of the school to Dee Road and outside the K/2 Door the week of April 17th. During this time, a walkway will be opened through the construction fencing to the blacktop, similar to how it was arranged earlier in the school year.
Though the fencing will close off the K/2 Door, the Kindergarten and 2nd Grade classes will continue to line up at their spot but enter/exit at Door 6 (1st & 3rd Grade entrance). This is the same procedure we used earlier in the year when the K/2 Door was under construction.
This plan is weather dependent. Once we have the forecast for the week of April 17th, we will send a final confirmation email that this work will proceed.
I cannot thank our community enough for the support and patience during our construction process. I appreciate your understanding as we complete the final stages of the project.

Please take a moment to review your Parent Portal for the safety and security of our students to avoid confusion at pickup.
- At least two contacts for each child's portal account
- Accurate phone numbers for all contacts
- Up-to-date primary address for your residence
If you are changing information for adults who have permission to pickup your child, please make sure this new information is in the Parent Portal. Please ensure you check the pickup permission box and include any other relevant information.

Anyone Entering Franklin
All parents/guardians/visitors to Franklin must have a valid state ID or driver’s license. These will be entered into the Raptor identification system. This process only takes a short time to complete. Once you have clearance, a visitor pass will be printed and attached to a lanyard that you must wear throughout the building. The office will hold your ID until you return to the office and return the lanyard that was given to you. We request that you please be patient with staff as we proceed with this district-mandated safety procedure.
Student-Parent Handbook
Franklin Elementary School, along with all District 64 schools, operates following policies and practices that have been reviewed and implemented by the District 64 Board of Education. Please review the D64 Student-Parent Handbook before the start of the school year.
PTA Updates

discussing upcoming events such as The Night of Stars and hearing Franklin updates from
Mrs. Williams. We hope to see you on the call!

● Rehearsal: Monday, April 24, 4:30 pm
● Performance Night: Friday, April 28, 6:30 pm
All events will be held in the Emerson Middle School Multipurpose Room located at 8101 N
Cumberland Avenue in Niles. Performers MUST attend both the Try-Out and Rehearsal in
order to participate on Performance Night.
Parent volunteers are needed!
