Open House and Exhibition Night
We switched our Open House & Exhibition Night a few years ago, as it used to be held the first week of school. We made the change for a few different reasons. The biggest for me was the ability to get to know kids better, and to have projects available to help explain both our philosophy, and a focus on students taking ownership and pride in their work. In addition,
attendance was poor. Due to many other conflicts for families, moving it a few weeks later and promoting it a bit more, has increased parent involvement these past few years.
I think this new format has made the night more meaningful and the feedback from parents is overwhelmingly positive. They like that their kids are bugging them to come to Open House which is a good indicator. I appreciate all of you for taking time to fill in the "Things to See" sheet to help us with our flyer that we hand to parents as they enter. This has been a fun night in making connections and to help communicate our philosophy of creating thinkers and doers!
How do we want our kids to feel? How do we want our staff to feel? It starts with us!
Custodial Update
Our new custodial team has quickly become a part of our LaCreole Family, and I appreciate their efforts to seamlessly transition into their new roles. This being said, even with our new custodial team in place, we will still be short-staffed this year. We’ve met with the district and our custodial team to discuss solutions on how to approach this change. With your help, cooperation and understanding, I feel the quality of custodial work we’re used to, can easily be achieved.
A couple things were identified that would help our custodial staff. Please ask your student's to put the chairs on their tables before leaving at the end of the day. This gives custodians the ability to clean more in the same amount of time; something that’s very important to them. We also ask for good communication. If you have concerns about your classroom and/or space, please feel free to email Heather so she can follow-up. Our custodial staff is committed to provide their LaCreole Team with the highest quality work and request good communication from us.
I think with a little cooperation and understanding, we can make this transition a huge success. We’re all in this together, and I appreciate your help!

Innovation Week 10/29 - 11/3
So this year, continuing to build momentum, we've created Innovation Week. This will start next Tuesday with a screening of MLTS at our Dallas Cinema, followed by a conversation event held at Pressed. The purpose of this week is to bring to the forefront our WHY through Most LIkely To Succeed and to highlight what it can look like in action - the Make-a-thon on Saturday November 3rd. Our target audience is community members and parents in an effort to create urgency to create schools that work for kids.
You are all invited to the screening! I realize that most of us have seen this once already, but I have to tell you, every time I rewatch it, I'm reenergized toward working and creating meaningful experiences for our kids.
Space at our Make-a-thon is limited but would love for our staff to be able to participate if you would like. You can do this by just letting me know, or I will have a registration form that will go out here soon. Thanks for all that you do!

Shout Outs!
OMG! I have a much better appreciation for our custodians this past week. Nothing like being handed the keys and turned loose! We are also down a half time person this year which makes their work increasingly more difficult. In our conversations they all want the best for our school and though we are working through how to make all this happen, they remain patient and optimistic!
