Student Anti-Racism Documentary
Mya Gordon is a college student at the University of Pennsylvania, a 2020 graduate of Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, and an activist, speaker, and documentary maker. Mya founded the Equity Council at her school; co-chaired the school district's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee; and works to combat racism in her community as part of groups including Respond to Racism. She also filmed the documentary "Lake 'No Negro' " to address the racist history of Lake Oswego and of Oregon, with its Black Exclusion Laws. In the documentary and in her speeches, she addresses the challenges of being a student of color in a predominately white city and state.
