McDill Family Newsletter
March 17, 2023
Hello Timberwolf Families:
I hope everyone enjoys a relaxing spring break! We are quickly approaching the end of the 3rd quarter, even though the weather sometimes still feels like January. Hopefully the consistent warm spring days are right around the corner! This is just a reminder, though, to please continue to still send the necessary warm gear (BIG 5) with your children while the daily temperatures are hovering around 40 degrees or below, or when the ground is snow-covered or wet.
If you have a child in grades 3-6, please remember that these students will be completing the Forward Exams during the weeks following break. More information is listed below, including the actual testing dates for each grade level.
In addition, if you are a parent of a current kindergarten student, or have a young one starting with us next year, please note that the 23-24 Kindergarten Visitation will take place on Friday, April 21st. On this day when our future kindergarten students visit McDill, our current kindergarten students will not attend school. (Note: all other grade levels will still attend.)
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for all your support as we continue through this year together! Have a great day!

Please note the due date of Friday, April 14th.

KIWANIS CLUB OF STEVENS POINT MAKING A DIFFERENCE AWARD
We congratulate our 6th grade student, Grace Leton, who was the recipient of this award on March 7th, 2023. According to her teachers by whom she was nominated, Grace is a true leader with strong school involvement. She leads through actions, as well as by example.
Grace is a very active member of our school’s Student Council. In her role, she volunteers and goes over and above the expectations as a member. Grace is also a safety cadet who has already held the position of captain for her squad. As a safety cadet, she is responsible for student safety in the hallways, as well as sidewalks and the student pick-up area outside. As captain, Grace was in charge of attendance, being sure cadets were doing their job and reporting back to the cadet advisor. In addition, she is a member of our school’s orchestra and takes in-school and private lessons. She enjoys playing her instrument and strives for her best.
Grace also participates in McDill's after-school volleyball and running club, as well as in the Portage County Youth Soccer program during the summer. She keeps herself very busy with all of these activities while still maintaining superior grades in school.
And finally, Grace also has a true caring for others, as well as a desire to make an impact on our community. During the holiday season, she enjoys ringing the bells for the Salvation Army and also helps her mother organize, shop and deliver holiday baskets for people in our community. On a day to day basis, Grace is more than willing to help her peers, whether it is for something academic or when someone is feeling like they need a friend. Grace will step up to include someone who doesn’t always feel welcome. She will lead by example and walk away when something isn’t right.
Way to go, Grace, you have a bright future ahead of you!
