Our kindergarten students enjoyed their first Wildcat Wednesday assembly! Each month we will gather together as a whole kindergarten community to review the ROAR expectations, celebrate the ROAR winners of the month, sing our ROAR songs, and say the ROAR pledge together.

Yesterday our amazing team of specialists put on a special skit reviewing our bus behaviors and expectations. Wiley made an appearance and the students did a great job of listening. Below are some visuals we used to support students in remembering how we ride safely on the bus.

Our ROAR winners for the month are picked weekly and then they get to stand up during the assembly to be recognized by their peers. They also get a special certificate, get a high five from Wiley, and leave under our special ROAR bridge. Keep up the good work!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a big day for our students and volunteers! Volunteers that signed up will need to check in at our front office, we will have a table ready to check you in. Please wear comfy clothes that you don't mind getting dirty in! We are putting you to work on special projects. Once you are checked in, you will be sent to where you will be working.

Our students are working on special projects in the classroom, too. It is going to be a wonderful day!

As the principal of Woodland Primary School, I am inviting parents to join me this year as a part of our Primary Parent Advisory Committee. The goal of this committee is to provide parents and caregivers with a structured forum to share their opinions and perspectives, discuss important school topics, and develop recommendations in a focused, small-group setting.

This committee will provide parents with the opportunity to provide input and feedback on school initiatives and programs. It will also be a great way to meet other parents and build relationships within our school community.

This committee will meet monthly and will include staff representation from the Primary School. If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please take a minute to fill out the form located HERE. This will help determine what time of day is best for the group to meet if we should meet in person or virtually, and more specific details.

This is your chance to use your voice to provide constructive feedback and help us improve our systems and school community relations.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Warren Newport Library and Woodland! On Saturday, October 21st. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Woodland will participate with Warren Newport Library in the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.

The event will be open to the general public, there will be fun activities, traditional music, and the display of artwork made by Woodland District 50 School artists.

Woodland Primary students are working on a special paper mural highlighting artist, Frida Kahlo. We hope to see you at the library!

Today we are having our first fire drills of the school year. We have one for our AM students and one for our PM students. Our kindergarten students will participate in both. Students will be prepared for the drill as their teacher will review what a drill is and they will also watch a special video with Wiley practicing the different safety drills.

We invite the Gurnee Fire Department to review our drill and if they are available, they attend the drill and provide us with feedback. Safety is a priority at Woodland Primary and in Woodland School District #50.

COMING SOON! This week will launch our annual SIGNATURE CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER!! Watch for the packets and instructions to be sent home early in the week. The fundraiser officially kicks off on Wednesday 9/27 and all orders are DUE on 10/11.

Miss the Primary Book Fair? Families are still able to shop the Primary Book Fair online HERE through 10/1 and all sales will count toward our book fair total.
